Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Gpe Problems - No Fn Keys, And I Broke Ssh

Perhaps use xmodmap to load a keymap file (can't remember what it's called). There should be a one on your Z somewhere. I can't remember the name/path off the top of my head, it might be on the mailing list though, or ask XorA on #openzaurus as he pointed me to a working one.

Here's one (attached and renamed .txt) :
I got it from cvs; that was a learning experience.
cvs -d anoncvs@cvs.handhelds.org:/cvs login
set CVSROOT=":pserver:anoncvs@anoncvs.ca.openbsd.org:/cvs"
cvs -z3 -d :pserver:anoncvs@cvs.handhelds.org:/cvs co -ko -roe-vendor oe/packages/gpe-session-scripts

mickeyl on #oe was helpful.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Gpe Problems - No Fn Keys, And I Broke Ssh
« on: March 22, 2005, 08:21:34 am »
Hey,
I just installed 3.5.2 - gpe on my slc860.
This is embarassing, but where's the fn key?  How do I type in | or *  ?
(I can use the pop-up keyboard, but that's frustrating in the long run.)
And gpe-conf keyctl is useless.
Do I edit my keymap by hand to fix this?

Also, I removed dropbear and installed openssh-*,
and now, whenever I use ssh, I get:
ssh 192.168.0.100
ssh_askpass: exec(/usr/libexec/ssh-askpass): No such file or directory
Host key verification failed.
Any ideas?
Google was not helpful.

Thanks,
His Miniatureness

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Oz 3.5.2 Coming Any Minute Now.

3.5.2 works on my c860 now.  Repartitioned, installed cacko 1.0.5, then installed
opie 3.5.2 over that, and it worked.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Oz 3.5.2 Gpe On Sl-c860 -- Anyone Got It Running?
« on: December 01, 2004, 07:14:12 pm »
I was running OZ3.5.1 with opie.
I found it unuseable becuase when I would wake it from suspend,
the screen would rotate from the correct orientation to 90 degrees off,
and the arrow buttons would be wrong as well.  I could fix it each time,
until the next suspend, but the arrow buttons would still be rotated.

Before that, pdaXrom-1.0.5, but I didn't like the user interface.

I bought it in July.  I haven't used it much.  I'm not sure how to identify
which production run it is from or which firmware it is running.
All the dates on the box are from 2003.  The serial # next to the
battery is 43021535.

Why?

I get the same behavior with my sl-c860; it starts ok, but it goes black + a cursor right after the gpe splash screen.

Opie doesn't work either.  I get a blank screen once it tries to start Opie.

I can't tell you how reassured I am that you are having problems too.  This means
it isn't my machine that's broken, it's 3.5.2 on the sl-c860.

I have a c860.  I had no luck with either gpe or opie using OZ 3.5.2.

Under opie, it goes through the boot up sequence normally, but when it
starts opie, the screen goes blank and stays that way.
I can press a key to abort starting opie after boot-up, and use my Z in text-mode.
When I do that, I can start opie via /etc/init.d/opie -start, but again, the screen goes
blank.

Under gpe, it goes through the boot up sequence normally, but when it
starts gpe, the screen starts the gpe splash-screen, and stays on the splash screen.

Does anyone out there have a c860 that works with OZ 3.5.2. ?
I'd like to know if it's my machine or the rom that is broken.

It looks like 3.5.2 is almost ready for download:
http://www.openzaurus.org/official/unstable/3.5.2/
NOTE: you should wait until it is officialy out;
I get a blank screen once it tries to start Opie.
(I used updater.sh from 3.5.1)

There's nothing on the front page about it.

But the files all date from monday morning, November 29, so ...

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Rotated Screen on c860
« on: October 29, 2004, 06:13:00 am »
I'm using oz 3.5.1, opie 1.1.6 on my c860.
It defaults to having the screen rotated 90 degrees from what it should be,
both in tablet mode and in clamshell mode.

I can correct this using the rotate command, from the opie menu,
but when I suspend the zaurus and wake it again, opie "corrects"
it from normal back to being rotated.  Also, even when I have used
rotate to orient the screen properly, the direction buttons are rotated;
I have to use left/right to move up/down in a menu.

How can I fix this?
