Cxx0 General discussions / Problems installing apps on my C860
« on: September 23, 2004, 06:42:30 pm »
You might try installing from the command line and see the results.  You might be missing dependencies, or have an incompatible package.

Change directory to where your ipk file is and type:
     ipkg install <YOURPACKAGEHERE>

Oh, and for certain, get another Address book.  Soon.  I have tried some of the commercial versions out there, but am most happy with Ka/pi, part of the Korganizer/PI project.

The software keyboard has some buttons on the upper left portion that control the input whether it's Kanji or Western.  Screw around with those until you get the right combination.  I believe the same thing is accomplished via the two function keys to the left of the -@ key [beside the space bar] on the hardware keyboard.

I  owned a c760 prior to getting the c860, and am NOT a big fan of the new Sharp ROM.  You might think about installing the CACKO/Sharp-based rom before you get too far.

The desktop sync software should install the same as the manual describes.

I had no luck asking c700support@dynamism.com for advice on how to handwriting recognition to work.  Such is life.

Mostly the system is -pretty- identical to that in the book.  What specifically are you having trouble with?

Cxx0 General discussions / c760 White Screen of Death?
« on: September 01, 2004, 10:42:44 am »
One day after getting the zaurus up and running, it died again.   Same symptoms.  It's on its way to Japan via Dynamism, but I'm buying a new one, so when my 760 gets back, it's going up for sale.  As is.

I was able to install the pdaX rom without too much trouble, and now just have to go back through and install my addresses etc.  At least it wasn't the final catastrophic failure I feared.

I brought my 760 out of my bookbag after just using it at a coffee shop about thirty minutes ago, and now it displays nothing but  a white screen.  I've cycled the battery, nothing.  It looks really, really dead.  Won't reboot, won't even bleat.  Help!

Cxx0 General discussions / Anyone have the 760 CD around?

I brought my USB cable to work to see if I can sync via it, but left the CD that originally shipped with my 760 at home (duh!).  When I plug the usb into my win2k work laptop, I\'m prompted to install drivers for the SL-760, and I know they\'re on the CD!

So, would someone mind zipping up the CD or just the directory with the USB drivers and emailing them (if they\'re small enough)?  Or I could point you to my FTP server to upload...

Many thanks!

Did you get this resolved? I could toss this up later tonight?
