5x00 General discussions / Tried to format SD as ext2, now doesn't mount

Are viking SD cards ok to use then?  Buy.com has a Viking 256MB SD card for 24.99 with a $15 MIR that I might jump on.

Your method was very helpful and it got my sd card formatted again.....until it needed a reformat and now it does the same thing again.  The partition is now just /dev/mmcda1 but it gives me the same problem formatting if I use your instructions

Recharge time is possibly explained by the following: (provided that the Z uses a standard three stage charger)

1.  Bulk charge.  Amperage is high and voltage is high.  Somewhere around 70-80% of charge is delivered this way
2.  Forgot what this stage is called.  Voltage rises, and amperage is low as the battery is fully charged.
3.  Float charge.  Voltage and amperage are stablized at a point that compensates for the battery selfdischarge.

Note:  I know the above for 12V lead/acid and NiCd and NiMh works well.  Not sure about lithuim though.  If the above is true, the bulk charging stage is providing enough current to charge both batteries in approximately the same amount of time.  The second stage (absorbtion?) is where the time difference comes in.  Of course, I could be completely wrong  .

I think Li-Ions are similar, but they have less of a voltage rise during charging than NiMh batteries.

This project looks really neat.  I would like to try something like this as well.  I do have one question.  I noticed that the stock battery has 3 terminals instead of just two.  I don't have it in my hand at the moment, so I was curious what the third terminal does and what if anything, you would have to wire to use another Li-Ion cell.

Hi all,
I was trying to reformat my Sandisk 128MB SD card as ext2 so I could use it for program installation more easily.  It gets to the point where it says it is writing superblock information and it never seems to get past it.  The mkfs.ext2 process is still running in the system info tool and afaik it never finishes.  the card is now unmountable and removing or inserting it does nothing.  I have tried to redo the format a few times and it never finishes.  Any suggestions?  This is on OZ 3.5.1

5x00 Hardware / Can this battery be made to work with the 5500?

Hi all,
Just found this Li-Ion battery pack on All Electronics Website:
Li-Ion Cell

It has the right voltage and is 1200mAh, so a little more than the 5500's battery.  It is a little thicker than the original and slightly smaller in the other 2 dimensions.  Can this battery be made to work with a little resoldering of connections?  At $3.75 each, they would be a steal.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / How do I sync in windows with OZ 3.5.1?
« on: October 23, 2004, 06:25:58 pm »
Hi all,
I got OZ running and I like it a lot.  However, I am a little confused with getting it to sync.  I tried using sharp's USB driver for the cradle but it says my device is an unknown USB device still when I put it on the cradle.  Also, what software do I need to use and what alternative methods are their for syncing with XP?
