6000 - Tosa / Pocketworkstation Question
« on: January 06, 2005, 12:48:39 am »
Made suggested changes and no dice... (at least, I think I made them right, if you want to dummy them down I can verify)

I have debroot located at /mnt/card/.debroot

Any other clues?  Is there a different set of instructions that may be better?

6000 - Tosa / Pocketworkstation Question
« on: January 05, 2005, 02:09:50 pm »
Thnx for the reply.

Here is what I get when I attempt a startx from the terminal:

#startx
mcookie: not found
xauth:  creating new authority file /home/root/.Xauthority
xauth:  creating new authority file /home/root/.Xauthority
Using authority file /home/root/.Xauthority
xauth: (stdin):1:  bad "add" command line
xauth:  creating new authority file /home/root/.Xauthority
xauth:  creating new authority file /home/root/.Xauthority
Using authority file /home/root/.Xauthority
xauth: (stdin):1:  bad "add" command line

xinit:  No such file or directory (errno 2):  no server "X" in PATH

Use the -- option, or make sure that /opt/QtPalmtop/bin is in your path and
that "X" is a program or a link to the right type of server
for your display.  Possible server names include:

giving up.
xinit:  No such file or directory (errno 2):  unable to connect to X server
xinit:  No such process (errno 3):  Server error.
xauth:  creating new authority file /home/root/.Xauthority

This is my second attempt at getting this installed.  After the first attempt and things went downhill, I started with a clean slate (aka, formatted the 6000 and went back to factory defaults) and proceeded to follow the instructions.

Thanks for the help

6000 - Tosa / Pocketworkstation Question

OK, so I got all the packages, formatted the SD card, did all the instructions at http://wiki.debian.net/index.cgi?PocketWorkstation-XQT and everything appears to be loaded, but I click on the pocket workstation icon and nothing happens.  I have enabled it to run with root priv, etc, but I know I must be missing something.  All help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

General Discussion / VNC viewer question
« on: November 15, 2004, 04:53:38 pm »
Hello all,

I am able to vnc into my linux machine that runs fluxbox.  However, I have not figured out how to right click with the Zaurus to bring up the menu. Tap and hold doesn't do anything, so I am searching to see if there is another way.  I don't want to go to KDE or another window manager, so please help as most of my access to this box is remote.

Thanks in advance

6000 - Tosa / Kismet on the 6000
« on: October 28, 2004, 05:05:32 pm »
I tried 3.1.0 and 3.0.1c w/o success.

All the solutions offered were greatly appreciated, but the problem seemed to be elsewhere.  So, backed out the whole install, re-downloaded everything, installed, configured, and it is now working fine.

The conclusion...a corrupted version of kismet was to blame.

What worked for me was as follows:

kismet 3.0.1c
kismet-qt 2
libpcap 0.7.2
libstdc++

http://www.zaurususergroup.com/modules.php...0the%20SL-6000L

Thanks for all the help.  Maybe this ordeal will assist another person who has "tried everything"

6000 - Tosa / 6000L screen grid
« on: October 27, 2004, 05:25:36 pm »
No, don't see it when the screen is off.  I have a couple dead pixles too, so I'm gonna req a relplacement (shouldn't have issues like this with one that is 3 days old...)

6000 - Tosa / 6000L screen grid
« on: October 27, 2004, 04:07:16 pm »
Hello all.  Has anyone else noticed the fact that you can see a pinpoint grid on the screen of the 6000L?  I am wondering if this is common or if I need to return mine for another.

Thanks

Thanks for all the input.  I am still having the same problem.  If I run kismet from the term, I get the following error:

3769: Segmentation fault

Any suggestions?

Thanks

thanks for the link skoorb.  If anyone out there has had similar problems with "can't connect to server" I would appreciate some guidance on resolving the problem.  I have all the right files now but am still getting the error.

Thanks

6000 - Tosa / Kismet on the 6000

First off, hello.  I was really glad to find this site and have seen some great info so far.

I just got a 6000L and am attempting to get Kismet up and running.  I have followed all the instructions throughout the site including the 6000L kismet instructions guide and what is on killefiz.  I am getting an error when I start kismet: "Can't connect to the server."  One thing I have seen is that I don't have the version of libpcap recommended on all the install guides (I can't find an active link to libpcap0_0.7.2_arm.ipk).  If anyone has some advice to share I would greatly appreciate it as well as perhaps a copy of libpcap0_0.7.2_arm.ipk.

TIA
