6000 - Tosa / Wavemon And Libncurses5
« on: March 26, 2005, 06:05:32 pm »
Hello,

I've finally installed a wireless home network.  I want to use my 6kl to audit the strength of my new router.  I downloaded wavemon from the webpage to my zaurus.  I tried to install it but got a warning that libncourses5 was not installed.  So I went out the the feed and installed it.  But after installing I got a warning that states:

"The extract of some files are failed. This application may not execute normally. When you cannot operate the application, please remove it."

First I laughed...."are failed"...is that like "your huts belong to us"?

I still get the same warning when starting wavemon.  Any idea what is wrong?

Thanks,
Roger

6000 - Tosa / Hancom Sheet Crashes Upon Save
« on: February 13, 2005, 07:16:13 pm »
Hello,

I have a 6000L with the stock OS.  I've installed the filemanager, terminal, gaim, and kismet.

I noticed the other day, when I try to save a spreadsheet I've created in Hancom Sheet, the application crashes.  By "crashes" I mean that it acts like it's saving the spreadsheet, but then it drops to the desktop and Hancom Sheet closes.  I've checked, and it does not save the document.  I have no other indication of any errors or problems.  Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks,
Roger

6000 - Tosa / SL-6000 carry cases
« on: December 27, 2004, 02:41:30 pm »
In the pinned thread that is mentioned in the above post, I found someone talking about a Sumdex pda case they purchased through www.ebags.com

The pda case fits perfectly, has plenty of room for other stuff and also carries my cell phone.  It's only $12 (USD) and when I purchased mine, it came with free shipping.

I've had my 6000L since November.  I experience the exact same situations you described.  I'm inclined to think it's "normal".  Perhaps someone else could chime in and let us know if it's not....

Thanks,
Roger

6000 - Tosa / Gaim
« on: December 20, 2004, 09:19:27 am »
Could someone check and let me know what msn is using for a login server and port?  My zaurus gaim has messenger.hotmail.com at port 1863.  It's not connecting.  When I click on the connection button, nothing happens.  I don't even see a progress bar as with icq or aim.

Thanks,
Roger

6000 - Tosa / Screen Problems
« on: December 16, 2004, 04:04:30 pm »
I've had my zaurus a little over a month.  I've heard talk of buying them on Amazon and how the price changes, but I didn't realize there was an actual "scam".

Thank you for the links.

Strangely enough, I don't get a sound, buzzer, or bell when I get a new message with gaim....with icq or aim.......I don't get a blinking icon either...no way to know unless I double click on persons username....strange.....I even went into the "edit account" screen and checkmarked "new mail notification".  Still nothing...

6000 - Tosa / Packages For Fdisk, Mkfs And Others
« on: December 11, 2004, 11:11:39 am »
Hello,

I am waiting on my 1GB SD card.  Every vehicle that goes by my house, I swear is the UPS truck and I run to the window to see.

While I'm waiting, someone pointed out that in order to format the card I will need to install some other packages.  fdisk, mkfs and some other commands/functions are not included with the 6000L standard ROM.

Could someone inform me as to which packages I should install?

Thanks,
Roger

I think there's a link over in the thread regarding USB mini-a cables. if you read through that somewhere in the beginning you should see what I'm referring to.

I think this is the post you are talking about.  It's a "pinned" post in the 6000 hardware section.  Neat.  I keep finding all of these toys to buy for my 6000L!

Never mind, I mis-read this post originally....

But hey, I didn't even realize there was an expansion slot!  Very cool!  With out hijacking this thread, could someone mention what types of devices one can plug into this?

Thanks,
Roger
