For Sale / Wanted / *sold* Zaurus Sl-c3200 And Accesories $450 Usd

I purchased the C3200 from conics.net towards the end of March 07 to test and play around with.  I have not had the time from work to really get into this device and so it is currently not being used, and my wife is insiting I sell it to pay for some of my other expensive hobbies.

What is being sold: Zaurus SL-C3200, Leather Case, USB Host cables and a pack of screen protectors.

Condition:  Everything is in mint condition, there are no scratches or dead pixels on the Zaurus.  Additionally, I have all of the original packageing, software, accesories as well as the japanese manuals.

Price: For everything I am asking $450 USD FIRM plus $10 for shipping to the domestic US (This is Standard Ground.  If you desire overnight, then we will have to work out the cost).  For sales outside the US, shipping costs will have to be negotiated.  

Payment Method: Paypal is my accepted form of payment.  Because of fraud, I cannot accept checks or money orders.  I am Paypal verified, and have sold another Zaurus in the past through this board.

Strange, both of the 1.02 ROM's Ive gotten from TRIsoft as well as the english Conics one, dont report their version number in the About tab.  What is there is --.-- JP.  Was this NAND taken before the unit was booted for the first time?  Any ideas what causes that or how it's fixed?

I did have 1.03 on my unit when it shipped.  Others in this forum had it also, however it looks as though Bret cannot find a unit with 1.03JP.  On another note, why does Sharp not post the ROM's for these on their Japanese site, do they not want to support their user base.

can you find an updater on Sharp site which will let you update a 1.02 to a 1.03 (and then you'd do nand backup afterwards?)

Problem is, the Sharp site does not have an updater. I really wish I had done a NAND backup before even booting it up for the first time.

Sharp ROMs / Address Book From Cacko On Sharp Rom

Try as I might, I have not been able to get the qtopia-addressbook_1.23_arm.ipk to work on my C3200 with Sharp's 1.02JP ROM on it.  The package installs and seems to put files into place, however when I go to run the addressbook it never launches.  I am doing this so I can continue to use the stock addressbook, but have english sorting.

Does anyone have any idea's?

 As you can see from my signature I use Cacko 1.23 full on my 3200. The sharp address book works with no problems for me.  I also use the lite version on my 860. The sharp address book works fine for me there too.

I'm guessing that you are using the Sharp Rom and attempting to use the ipk from the cacko feed? The cacko rom uses patches from various sources, mainly from Tetsu's kernel?, and this might be were your problem lies. I mean that the cacko package might rely on the patched kernel that cacko uses.

So one choice for you is to flash the cacko rom.

If you search the forum there was a thread in which the problem of  English sorting for the address book was successfully solved on the sharp roms.

I seem to remember that Trisoft have/had a fix for this also.

A crude fix, assuming your addresses are in Outlook,  is to export them to a csv file and to sort ithe addresses in a spreadsheet. Then import the sorted file and synch with the zaurus. That worked for me before going to cacko removed the issue for me.

I originally used cacko, however I had to find an alternative because the Datebook in cacko is not the one that came with the 3200 stock ROM.  The one in cacko suffers from a bug that Sharp patched where some of your reoccurring appointments will not show up when synced from Outlook.  So I have gone to the stock NAND load and have applied Figlabs conversion overtop, which is by far the best solution to really use this thing as a PDA.  I am very happy with it.

I can get it all installed, and it never seems to connected once it takes my credentials.  Anyone else get this working.  The same setup worked under cacko, so I am not sure why it is not working under the stock ROM.  Anyone have any ideas?

you are probably missing the tun.o module which isn't by default installed on SharpROM...

I was using the viperinz setup and verified that I had the tun module.  I figured out what was wrong.  At work they had inadvertently blocked a necessary port.  When  I went home and used my home wfi, I got in just fine.

Do you guys know where I can buy the figlabs backup.  They used to sell it, however it is off of their website, and they are not answering emails.  Any help would be appreciated.[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=160159\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I've found figlabs support to be pretty slow to respond, but in my experience they usually do get back to you eventually.

I'm about 84% sure that their backup file was a free download, and what they were selling was a CD thereof.

If anyone can confirm this, and you can provide me with somewhere to put it, I'd be happy to upload you a copy.

I cant confirm, but they have pulled the product from their page and have not responded for 2 weeks to my email.  I am desperate for a good converted ROM.  Can you tell me if the addressbook in the figlabs load has Japanese or English tabs, and does it sort a-z or by Japanese Phonetics?  In other words is the figlabs load as good as they tout it to be.  I am fairly frustrated with Cacko right now, because it was not made for the 3200.  The 3200 seems to have introduced many new things in the way it works.  If you feel so inclined, please PM me and I will find a place to host this, or perhaps if you use aim we can transfer it through there.  I don't know that I have any internet facing webservers that I can host this on.

Or try renaming the file from
"figlabs_0-15.backup_SLC3200-JP-unknown"
to
"figlabs_0-15.backup_SLC3200-JP-1"

My current backup file is named
"2006-10-31-02-47.backup_SLC3100-JP-1"

I don't have my C3200 yet, but have downloaded 2 backup files hosted by Cresho and they are named
"zaurus-rom-3200v1.backup_SLC3200-JP-1"

Up to yesterday, I was not getting a response from Conics, where I bought the device.  Brett just got back to me and will be getting me this NAND backup when he gets back into town.  I also want to thank Trisoft.  They provided me with a 1.02 jp ROM is short order.  They didnt have to do that, but they did anyways.  They are a great bunch of people, and I would urge any German users to purchase stuff from them.

I purchased the device at Conics.  However the version over there is 1.01 JP.  I believe that the timezone changes were in 1.03 JP so I want that one.  Repeated emails to Bret and to Conics have gone unanswered, so I am looking for anyone here who might have done a NAND backup on their 3200 before trying other ROM's.

I would just go and use Cacko, however it was built before the 3200 ROM was out, and such is missing bug fixes like the Calendar bug fix that effects you not being able to see some of your synced appointments, and a host of other things.  So what I am trying to do is take the stock 1.03JP ROM and convert it to English and use it.
