Ive used the english version of the site and downloaded the correct files for the C3000 (18a).

However, Im a bit lost on the english translation of tetsu's site.... it doesnt make much sense to me. Can someone tell me the process of doing the kernel upgrade?

cheers,
Devon

As I say we are using tetsu's special Kernel at the moment.

yep, happened again on a 120 page document - but was not out of disk space or memory... , well, except the /dev/shm was full (100%), and when I exit TM it goes down to 5% ... so is this a shared memory area or something?error is -

"Error while writing. Disk full?"

but Textmaker keeps running seemingly when I OK the error ...

In regards to the uninstall failing, Im wondering if you have done a restore on the unit? The first time ona fresh unit, it worked, then I reflashed, and installed it again, then the install fail / lack of uninstall occurred.

cheers,
D.

<HJ> Devster- Can textmaker on a C3000 handle big Word files - say 50 pages plus?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=78615\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

yep, it does .. I had a 100 page document running, which was full of images and about 2MB size

The only problem was that after a while, in the 1 case I tried,  I had an error that I run out of disk space , error writing file or something - but I wasnt saving anything.. then the whole prog died

I havent had time yet to retry or investigate

cheers,
D.

I did have it cleanly install a while ago, then I reflashed the unit completely to a fresh Z, and now it doesnt install cleanly (gets to the end and reports that ipk had errors.. but archive is good!)

As I described, there's no add/remove for it, although it runs from the menu ...

hmmm

I tried with windows media encoder (erm , sorry to mention windows!!) 640x480 at 600k, and I had only about a frame every 1.5 seconds... its probably an encoding problem tho ...

320x240 clear as tho

cheers.

I installed the latest version of textmaker, and the install ends up failing with an error from the ipk .. however, the icons etc still come up, and it does load up.

However, there is no uninstall option. Being a total newb, can anyone tell me how to properly uninstall it, just delete the dir ?

cheers,
Devon

I took your advice and ditched the kino site installs (which, btw, did say worked with the c3000!?), and used atty's ...

Its pretty awesome! compared to Video Player, much better quality, and thats just at 320x240. I'll give 640x480 a go shortly. More importantly, it works without failing...

well, I have one minor problem, when I cancel the video, its wiping out the status bar along the bottom....  ie the whole taskbar is blank , but click on it and it is functional. Figuring it out ...

Devon

I installed as per http://my-zaurus.narod.ru/kino.html , using sudo, iwmmx, bvdd, and kino 0.4.2 ....

I try and play a movie, and it just freezes up, difficult to get it back.Using standard ISO MPEG4 and mpeg3 that wok using default player.

using standard sharp rom with C3000 ...

Anyone have any idea why it doesnt work as it should?

cheers,
Devon

sounds exactly the same - I didnt unmount the wlan properly either, and did a hard reset.

Im back and running, but Im not real impressed I just had to do a restore on it.....

In the meantime, workarounds possibly are to forcibly unmount at all costs before a reset!

Trying this, at the second menu (step 6) it would not proceed - it gave a japanese dialog prompt with an OK button, clicking it, would not let me proceed, coming back to the menu again.
You should get a confirmation (YES/NO, OK/CANCEL) dialog after selecting the 3th followed by the 1st item in the servicemenu. Within this dialog you should select the option on the left to confirm. Strange yours has only one button?

ahhh... yeh... by that stage of trying to recover, it was getting late, and I was mindlessly pressing the OK button on each item.... now I see its actually 2 and one says Y and one says N ....

its just restored... but im not so happy Ive lost the whole setup...

anyway, tnx for the prod!!

cheers,
D.

First solution (Will erase all data):
1) Remove the battery cover and press the reset switch.
2) Replace the battery cover.
3) Hold the OK button and power on the unit.
4) Plug in the unit.
5) Select the third option in the menu.
6) Select the first option in the second menu.
7) Wait (May take longer then 5 minutes).
System will then boot in Japanese. Dynamism customers should email c700support@dynamism.com to obtain further instructions for their units.

Trying this, at the second menu (step 6) it would not proceed - it gave a japanese dialog prompt with an OK button, clicking it, would not let me proceed, coming back to the menu again.

What to try next? A D+B restore of the ROM? I have a conics (purchased 17/11/04) unit, and the conics .DBK file, but Im a little unsure given that Trisoft has a pre dec and post december backup (not DBK files?), and if this will work.

My unit is frozen at the sharp bootup, with a grep /etc/pcmcia/stab error (see other posts)

cheers,
Devon

Yep, even without the wlan card, same thing.

Ive managed to get to a terminal root prompt (D+B reboot), but thats as far as Ive got. Im not sure what the filesystem is supposed to look like. I assume that screwing with the network settings has somehow corrupted the network settings files.

Whats also strange is that someone else had exactly the same problem - they did a restore to fix it. However, Im left wondering if its something that could happen to any C3000s. They also purchased from Conics. I'll ask Conics if they know of a fix.

eg at same problem

cheers,
D.
