For Sale / Wanted / For Sale: Usb Host Cable
« on: December 20, 2004, 10:35:42 pm »
I'm pretty new to the whole Zaurus scene, just got my SL-6000 about a month ago. What will the usb cables you have allow me to do with the 6K? Seems I saw something about it in the manual but I don't recall what I read.

6000 - Tosa / Headphones
« on: December 03, 2004, 07:02:06 pm »
Anyone found a good set of headphones for the 6K that have the 2.5mm plug? I would prefer not to have to use an adapter if I don't have to. All the ones at my local Best Buy have the 3.5mm plug.

Anybody got any good feeds for the 6K, the ones on the wiki seem to be out dated, alot of them do not work including the one for Sharp.

Linux Issues / syncing with Evolution, or what else?

No, this is not the only way. You can use the Opie-PIM applications on a Sharp-Rom and then use multisync with evolution.
The Opie-PIMs have to be installed from the sharp-feed of Opie, they will be linked to the original sharp-PIM-icons.

I have to second this. I have been running the Opie-PIM calendar on my SL-6000 (and my 5500 before) and it works great. Although I have been using evolution-sync.pl to sync to Mozilla Calendar (which also uses ics files).

Good luck!

Craig...
It appears that the opie.handhelds.org/feed/sharprom/latest is down and has been for several days now. Is there another feed for the Opie-Pim that will work on the sl-6000l?

Linux Issues / cannot get usb0 in debian 2.6.3
« on: November 25, 2004, 06:20:13 pm »
I found ifplugd last night while reading man pages and install it also. The only difference in the way that you did it and the way I did, I used a static IP address.

/etc/interfaces
# The network interface for the Zaurus
iface usb0 inet static
address 192.168.129.1
pointtopoint 192.168.129.201
netmask 255.255.255.0

When I turn the Z on or place it in the cradle on, the usb0 will come up within a few seconds, but for what ever reason it is using IPv6 so  the PC and Z will not communicate. If  I bring it up with ifconfig then everything is fine. Havent' figured that one out  yet.

Allen

Update; After several reboots it is now using ipv4 so the PC and the Zaurus are able to communicate. Not real sure how I fixed the ipv6 problem. Tried it on a new install of Ubuntu and at 1st had the same problem usb0 was ipv6, then while I was trying to resolve the problem it started showing up as ipv4 so I could comunicate. ???????

After following azmar's suggestions in the previous post I'm able to ping my Z. How would I get this to all happen when I turned the Z on in the cradle, I know I could write a script with all the commands in it but I would like it to just happen.

This is all pretty new to me.

Thanks

« on: November 23, 2004, 05:38:21 pm »
Just got a 6K and have been looking for a way to sync it with my Linux desktop. I have been reading the thread and the links. Tried to go to opie.handhelds.org and get the message, The connection was refused by opie.handhelds.org. Also tried to link to it through Google and got a simular message.

Is opie.handhelds gone or crashed or something? Is there another feed for this?

6000 - Tosa / Screen protectors
« on: November 22, 2004, 08:04:54 pm »
I took a piece of transmarent plasic like for a report cover cut out a rectangle 85cmx61cm could be mm not real good with metrics. It then will slip up under the case at the top and bottom and holds it in place. The 3M film might be better but I just used what I had.

Also tried on of the Concept Kitchens protectors that I had left over from my Palm III but I didn't like what it did to the screen, made it a little blury looking.
