Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Oz3.5.3 (collie) On/off Button Problem
« on: April 20, 2005, 09:06:07 pm »
Don't know how much this comment will help: I am using hentget T7 64/0 kernel and it displays the same "sleep on right arrow" so-called feature.  This distro is using kernel 2.4.18 embedix-r15.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Zsafe Gui In German?
« on: April 14, 2005, 11:43:44 pm »
Probably a sin to resurrect this thread, but I just wanted to post my fix in case anyone else has the same problem:
When I went to
/opt/QtPalmtop/i18n/en and did
Code: [Select]
du -h * I found all the files to be 512 bytes big, except for zsafe.qm. so I mv'd zsafe.qm to zsafe.qm.bak and copied an arbitrary *.qm file into zsafe.qm, and my problem was fixed.  Odd, eh?

do you have the bt950 module installed? try a search in the oz forum for "bt950" if you need to install it.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Zsafe Gui In German?
« on: March 21, 2005, 12:45:49 am »
I have googled some, and searched the forums, but I still can't understand why zsafe's menu titles, menu options, and dialog buttons are all in German, even though the dialogs themselvs are in English.  When I
Code: [Select]
strings zsafe | grep nein and several other German words, I get nothing. Has anyone else dealt with this before?
Thanks,
ND

but I didnt tested it on my mail accounts
seems to work on my pop3 acct. Also seems to be much more usable/featurefull than opiemail.

Install first libsssl from OZ feed, if it is'nt installed. Then install kmicrokdelibs. Then install kopiemail. For kopiemail you maybe need the option force-depends to install.

I was a little confused at first, since I believe there was an OZ version of microkdelibs installed on my sl5500.  A

Code: [Select]
ipkg -force-overwrite install kmicrokdelibs_2.0.11_for_OZgcc3xx_arm.ipk

proved neccessary to get the kmicrokdelibs_2.0.11_for_OZgcc3xx_arm.ipk from the sourceforge zipfile installed.  After that kopiemail installed and ran smoothly except for the "kopiemail.desktop" being installed to /mnt/card/opt/QtPalmtop/apps/Pim rather than /mnt/card/opt/QtPalmtop/apps/1Pim

Thanks for suggestion. Hope my post is helpful and doesn't merely further the hijack.

"-ac mad" works! Thanks for the fastest fix I have ever gotten in a public forum. Sorry for my klutzyness with mplayer. I will play with the encoding script.

@MrSquishy: Very elegant! A question: I am having a distinct lack of audio under the 3.5.2 mplayer.  It just clicks a little at the beginning of the movie. The video looks great.  Ironically, the xmms-embedded version of mplayer plays audio and video very nicely, but seems to screw up the framebuffer somehow upon exit.  Are you using mencoder? I am using
mencoder dvd://1 -ovc frameno -oac mp3lame -lameopts abr:br=128 -o frameno.avi
mencoder dvd://1 -oac copy -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vhq:vpass=1:vbitrate=1000 -vop scale=320:240 -o Small_Movie-small.avi
mencoder dvd://1 -oac copy -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vhq:vpass=2:vbitrate=1000 -vop scale=320:240 -o Small_Movie-small.avi

I am using 3.5.2 (non-hentges) on a 5500.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Breaking The Sound (recording) Barrier
« on: February 09, 2005, 04:17:42 pm »
Aaaannd, since I have spent this much time playing while at work, I might as well spend more... The post at https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showt...87&hl=recording
clears things up for me.  It also gives some answers the original posters'questions. (Though ultimitely, opierecord seems to just be a little broken. Thus the answers are not all useful.) For those interested: a search on "recording" pulls some relevant postings from this forum.

If there are no modules compiled or otherwise for the Zaurus, are alsa-lib and alsa-oss even _supposed_ to do anything useful? Should they work?

Hmmm, I was following this thread, and tried the "arecord -d 10 -t wav  greatidea.wav " incantations. This results in "arecord: main:507: audio open error: No such device" So I went to /dev/snd/ and mknod'ed all the devices, which didn't change the error.  Then I noticed that there was no /proc/asound and lsmod returned no trace of a alsa module.  I am using 3.5.2 on a 5500, are there modules out there for alsa?  I googled and searched the openzaurus forum, and looked through the openzaurus.org feeds by hand for alsa, but found nothing promising. I would love to have some audio action on my Z.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Openzaurus And Sftp
« on: December 01, 2004, 03:01:05 am »
I know this is not the answer you are looking for, but if you are desperate, you can scp onto your zaurus with the default install of dropbear on 3.5.1. If you don't know scp, you can 'man scp' on a box with man pages. You'll want to tar multiple files, too, probably.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / What Happened To Bt950_cs?
« on: November 27, 2004, 04:10:02 pm »
Wonderful! Works great. pppd dials up a GPRS connection from the command line with no problems.  opie-network-settings-pppplugin, on the other hand forks off usless zombie pppd's. Still trying to figure that one out.
Many Thanks,

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / What Happened To Bt950_cs?

Is there a binary version of the module compiled against OZ 3.3.6 , 3.5.1, or 3.5.2 (or more correctly, compiled against the relevant kernels)?
Thanks, by the way, I am really glad to hear that, now I can stop my mad hunt for bluetooth cards with 5 year old firmware.
Thanks,

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / What Happened To Bt950_cs?
« on: November 23, 2004, 11:24:13 am »
I have noticed on http://bluez.sf.net/download/zaurus/ and in the Hentges T5 rom, the driver for the  AmbiCom bluetooth cf card BT2000E (bt950_cs) is missing.  In the old projects.zaurus.com website the blueth ipks were slightly older and included the bt950_cs. What gives?  I have searched through forums and googled about, and I can find no mention of this exclusion, or a changelog that mentions the dropping of this driver. Also, there is nothing that speaks to this in the logs of #oe, #openembedded, or #openzaurus (that resulted from my zgreps, anyhow). Anybody out there know what happened to this driver?
Thanks,
-n
