I'm on my 4th Zaurus - a shiny new 3100, after owning and selling 5500, 6000 & C860.
Still don't know how to use it though....

that's no problem, send it to me, I'll learn how to use it for you and bring it back in say 6 months and show you how.

That's a really kind offer, I'll think about it and let you know.

Live in Northwich, hail from Sheffield.  Relatively new to the forums, but I'm on my 4th Zaurus - a shiny new 3100, after owning and selling 5500, 6000 & C860.

Still don't know how to use it though....

It's a Sony DSC-W17, using 512MB Memory Stick Pro.

Cheers icruise, I like the look of that so I've ordered one.  Short term it should solve any problems I have (well, hopefully).

I have tried Googling for what I need, but I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to libraries and modules so I haven't come across anything that fits what I'm trying to do.
Or should I say, I haven't found anyone who's done it already and documented it in easy steps that even a simpleton could follow!

Yeah, tried that too with no luck.  Got a couple of card readers, but I can't get those to mount either - not even to read a Compact Flash card that is formatted ext2.

This is driving me nuts!

Yeah, it shows up under the USB tree in the Device tab of System Info.

Doing fdisk -l /dev/sda shows me the full capacity, that it's FAT32 and on /dev/sda1.

Then using mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/usbstorage allows me to browse it from the Files tab.

If I connect my camera I get "Sony DSC" under the USB tree but fdisk doesn't report anything at all and it refuses to be mounted.

Looks like I need some libraries, but I can't seem to track anything down.

Picked up a USB host cable for my C3100 and tested it with my MP3 player - connects fine and I can read from it no problem.  However, I can't read from the SONY Memory Stick in my digital camera.  Which was my main reason for getting cable....argh!

It shows up in the System Info applet, but it isn't recognised from the command line.

I presume I need a driver, but I'm not sure where to look.  Has anyone else managed to hook up a memory stick in this way?

Thanks,

Mark.

wi0 at pcmcia1 function 0 "WLAN, 11Mbps_PC-Card_3.0, ISL37100P" port 0x0/64, irq 137

Skeruno,

Looks like you might be running an Origo variant judging from your dmesg output.  I've just managed to get my own card configured on C3100 using the following method:

1. Plug in your card.

2. Bring up terminal and log in as root (su).

3. Type "cardctl ident"

4. From the output :
For Socket 0, copy the details of the first line after "product info :"
Mine came up with the following:
"WLAN", "11Mbps_PC-Card_3.0", "ISL37100P", "Eval-RevA"

5. Backup the file "/etc/pcmcia/wlan-ng.conf" (Just in case!)

6. Edit wlan-ng.conf and put the following at the end of the file:

card "Origo" (or some other description, not important)
version "WLAN", "11Mbps_PC-Card_3.0", "ISL37100P", "Eval-RevA" (or ident for your card if different)
bind "prism2_cs"

7. Save and exit file and reboot your unit.

8. Go through the Network wizard to auto detect the card and complete your network details.

Eventually worked for me, so I hope it helps!

C1000/3x00 Hardware / Symbol Spectrum 24 Wifi Card On C1000

Followed all the instructions in this thread to the letter and the card appears to connect ok.  But when I fire up NetFront I get an error pop-up with 'TCP write error'.

Bit of an update....

Thought I'd be really clever and get round this problem by picking up an Origo card and ditching the Symbol!

No such luck though.

I get a little more joy than with the Symbol card, as it will auto-detect after I've edited the wlan-ng.conf file (and I can run through the setup fine, and cardctl ident looks ok), but I get exactly the same 'TCP write error' message in NetFront.

What's that all about then?!

Is it a 3100 thing, or am I missing something really simple?

C1000/3x00 Hardware / Symbol Spectrum 24 Wifi Card On C1000

I picked up a C3100 to replace my C860 (man, I miss the Cacko ROM....   ) and I can't for the life of me get my Symbol Spectrum 24 CF card working.

Followed all the instructions in this thread to the letter and the card appears to connect ok.  But when I fire up NetFront I get an error pop-up with 'TCP write error'.

Anyone else had this problem and managed to find a way round it?
