5x00 General discussions / Viewing Comics/manga On 5500?
« on: August 17, 2005, 01:12:20 pm »
I have tried tkcGallery, but it doesnt "move around the image". What I mean is that I cant pan around using the directional pad. This is usefull because to read the comic i need to zoom in relatively much, and then I need to "strafe" around to get to the next "frame"  Thanks!

Hi!
I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions as to what image viewer i should use to go through multiple jpg files quickly. Should be able to move around the image, zoom, and proceed to the next pic (preferably without using the stylus)

Thanks!

5x00 General discussions / Sync 5500 To Linux
« on: May 24, 2005, 10:41:05 am »
The new version of Kontact syncs with the PIM apps on my zaurus with VERY little configuration, and the fish protocol (files over ssh) allows me to seamlessly move files between the zaurus and my desktop.  I just launch Konqueror and type fish://root@<ZaurusIP>  and all is well.  The horrible, and proprietary Qtopia desktop sucks no matter what platform it is used on.

I hope this helps.

What rom are you using?

I just installed openssh on my 5500 (latest sharp rom), but when i try ¨fish://"i get a ¨perl not found¨ error.  Fish works on other hosts though.
You said that you use kontact. I just installed the latest version of suse (9.3), and noticed kontact --thats what got me interested in syncing again
However, how do you tell kontact to use the zaurus? It only gives me the option of ¨/dev/pilot¨.

Thanks

hehe, yeah. I know, you have alot of good stuff written on the encoding!  Thanks! I was just wondering if anything caught your eye ... ill change the audio settings some!
But I still dont get any video. I tried the following:

 ./vlc -V qte --filter transform --transform 270 3.avi
 ./vlc -V fb 3.avi

Both give no video. However, after checking more verbose output, i got the following:

"Main decoder error: no suitable decoder module for fourcc 'FMP4'.
VLC probobly does not support this sound or video format.

Odd. Any ideas? Any dependencies/codec libraries im missing?  Thanks again for the help Chris, im very thankfull!

Hi!  I tried the above binary, however, im not getting any video (tkcvideo works), only audio!  My encoding looks as follows:

mencoder -of avi -oac mp3lame -lameopts q=5:vbr=2:abr=128:aq=5:ratio=50:mode=3:vol=0 -ovc lavc -lavcopts vcodec=mpeg4:vbitrate=100::keyint=250:vlelim=-4:vcelim=7:vfdct=0:idct=0:subcmp=0 -vf scale=272:200 -ofps 18 -sws 2 A\ I\ R\ -\ 03\ \[Ishin\]\[55B7E332\].avi -o /tmp/3.avi

Best wishes,
Jesper

p.s Any tips on the encoding? tkcvideo gives me an occasional studder/chop...  Thanks!

Software / Video On 5500/qtopia
« on: May 09, 2005, 04:13:01 am »
Hi,
Im looking for the following information. I have searched on the forum/google, but most turn up dead links / commercial programs.

I have tkcvideo.

1) Play video on a 5500
I have tried various methods (xmms/mplayer shell) etc. However, the mix/matching of mplayer versions and stuff seems to be messing things up. Could someone please provide me with the excact ipks they use when watching videos on their zaurus.

2) Encoding video for a 5500
Just your favorite mencoder string/command/linux utility for converting a current video on your harddrive to a more zaurus friendly format/size. Linux only.

Thank you very much!

For Sale / Wanted / For Sale: Zaurus Sl5500
« on: April 16, 2005, 12:51:34 pm »
Hi,
Due to a slight malfunction in the earphone port (full stereo does not work properly), I am looking to sell my SL5500 zaurus.  I mainly used it as a video device/mp3 player, so messed up sound really hurts me.

The device itself works fine otherwise, good battery time still. (listen to mp3's very long 2 days before needing to charge). Its a bit worn, though no scratches on the screen. (can get pics if needed)

Please email me your bid/location/questions to:
