Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Java For Oz 3.5.2

Hrm... Howdya mean the libcompat thing?
I tried running the libraries settings jobber on the evm binary (just by typing the filepath cos it wasnt anywhere in the list) but it didnt seem to do anything.
Christmas has sorta put a hold on all this so i shall rediscover it a bit later and see if i can figure anything out... BTW, where did you get your jeode ipk from?

Hey people,
    having miserably failed with msn in gaim, i decided to try a web client...
But of course... they require Java, dont they!
Wondeful.
As I'm running OZ 3.5.2 (a la Hentges), the Jeode thingy doesnt work, as i need libsl.so.1.. which is Sharp only (i think)...
Erm, i would perform this ... rip ... type operation from the sharp ROM, however...
... Well its all working and i have flashed the Z about 15 times now... its getting boring.


So... basically i was wondering if there are any 'easy' ways to get Java working...
I looked into Kaffe, but seem to be missing the point or something.

Being a bit of a noob at this... so dont really know what i'm doing!

Any help would be appreciated!

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / The Ssl Msn Gaim Issue...

Hi all,
 I'm having trouble with Gaim under OZ 3.5.2 onto an SD card (Zaurus sl 5500)

I'm getting the assretion 'session != NULL' failed message when MSN tries to login.
I know from other posts and a bit of searching that this is due to SSL not being installed...
Well, it /IS/ installed
(at least, i have gnutls, gzlib, gcrypt1 installed)
i even tried installing libgaim-ssl but no joy, as it says bits are already installed from the plugins package.
... also tried ln -s to nutls etc from mnt/card/usr/lib/ ... i think i linked almost everything possible....  no joy  
so, anyone have any handy hints?

I must say i think i may be missing somehting. I tried to re-install gaim several times because it wasnt working from the gui menu, i eventually tried it from the konsole and discovered the missing links to the various libs. Probably a similar mistake here...?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Noob Wifi Help

hi there,
   New to the zaurus system, and struggling with wireless connectivity.
Basically, i have a WCF12 card (linksys) and it works fine (perfectly?!) under the Sharp ROM on my sl-5500, but having installed OZ 3.5.1 (but did try 3.5.2) , it all goes wrong. The card is recognized but after configuring it (As best i could, as there was no option (in the gui at least) to set wep key types, input method etc, simply an input called Key1 etc...) no connection!
The ESSID box states the name of my network, but seems to have what looks like mangled beacon packets or something trailing after ..  (random cahracters, but repetitive)...
No joy with WEP off on the AP either...
IP doesnt get set by dhcp, in fact it doesnt even send a request to the server for an IP...
its all rather strange.

It seems odd that it works straight off with the Sharp ROM, but its being incredibly picky with OZ..

Maybe i'm missing somehting!

Anyone else know of such things?
