General Discussion / Any News For The Next Zaurus?

On the battery thing. As long as the PSP is out with the same voltage requirements we can always find external batteries.  Not quite as nice but will keep the 6000 running.

Can you give me some idea how to do this or to get the driver to work.  Also trying to get a USB GPS to work.

Thanks,

I use a Fortuna U2 USB GPS running on my 6000L

I got a 5-pin USB mini to  USB adaptor but had to file away a little of the adaptor to get it to fit
(www.maplin.co.uk Part No A80AH USB AF/Mini USB 5PM)

The U2 needs the pl2303.o kernel module - I had to compile this myself.

Gents,

Any idea if this will work with the 6000?  I am trying to read a GPS through the USB port.

I get the following in dmesg

usb.c: USB decive 29 (vend/prod 0x67b/0xaaa0) is not claimed by any driver.

Thanks,

I was about ready to go with a Mini-ITX box as a car computer.  This might fit the bill even better.  Have to see how open it is.

When ever i run an app in magnified mode (like opie programs) i get a high pitched buzz.  Everything wokrs, and it has done it from day one.  I tried reflashing, thinking that it might help but it did not.  I am using the stock sharp rom, but i have tried the gpe rom and it had no trouble but I didnt see a way to change an apps resolution in it.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Todd

Thank you very much.  Wondering if there would be a way to add to the antenna for increased range.

I wonder if there's a way to increase the SL-6000L's antenna strength? I've noticed its personally not the strongest around...

Problem is that it is an internal antenna.  Works fine around the house but not the best for long range.

I know there are a few folks who have taken their 6000s apart.  Any ideas for a better antenna setup?

Usb mouse & keyboard are doable now.  See the 6000 hardware section.

Not sure about VGA - would like to see it for a head mounted display.

6000 - Tosa / Keyboards?
« on: January 09, 2005, 12:11:36 pm »
Agree with comments about the Zippy.  It works well right out of the box and the lighted keys are great for night use.  I have not tried every keymapping but for just email, webstuff, and taking notes at work it runs fine.

As long as what text I type winds up on screen I am happy.

Typing this with a Zippy on my 6000l!

6000 - Tosa / Keyboards?

I set my Z on the side behind the keyboard on a table and type like that.  Would be a bit nicer to have it at a slight angle for easier viewing.

I am at work now but the zippy measurements should be on the NewEgg product info page.  It is a small keyboard but works well.  I find that I have to adjust myself to it but I use it about half the time for my desktop (I pull the USB when I take it on the road.)

Again not the most compact solution but i had it already and it works well.

With the iRiver USB Cable, I was able to get my zippy mini-usb keyboard (EL-610) working with my SL-6000l.  Just plugged it in and it worked.  The backlight on the keyboard even worked (though I turned it off to save battery on the Z).

A bit large for a portable solution but cheap enough to stash one at work and another at home.
