Sharp ROMs / Flashing Cacko/crow Rom

The first time it does take quite a while to initialize. Leave your Zaurus connected to AC power, go have a cup of coffee or two and come back in about 30mins.

Thanks for the tip... I tried waiting for something like 5 minutes, but nada. I'll go try longer.

Sharp ROMs / Flashing Cacko/crow Rom
« on: April 06, 2006, 03:38:23 pm »
I've flashed roms onto my Zaurus a couple of times before, so I got the actual rom into memory easily enough. I'm following the instructions outlined here but once I get into the SD card stuff, I have problems. I'm using a 5500 with a 128 mb Viking SD card, which has worked perfectly for me before. The exact problem is that once I run fdisk and then mkfs as Crow asks me to, I reboot, and it seems to start up well enough. But when the load gets to "Initializing /home..." my Z just sits there indefinitely. Any help?

General Discussion / Cf Card Data Transfer Problem
« on: March 31, 2006, 05:14:49 pm »
My 512 meg CF card has worked great for me for over a year now on my Zaurus. I've taken data on and off it countless times. Now, just a couple days ago, I started getting the message "Please review with error check function on your Zaurus" when I tried sending data to this same card. I can still read off it, delete things, and rename and what have you, it's just that any size file I try to put on gets this message after a few seconds.

Software / Nethack Install Trouble
« on: March 29, 2006, 04:08:58 pm »
I'm running the latest Sharp Rom on a 5500, and been having trouble getting nethack to install. The package seems legit, although I had to look around for it, but it won't show up in the installer list. Suggestions for alternate ways of installing, or other ipks of it?

Software / Snes9x... No Startup At All
« on: March 26, 2005, 08:53:31 pm »
Well...
Yay.
I got Chrono Trigger started up from the terminal, just with the basic snes9x command.
I'm getting a "no such file or directory" message when I try running your little bit, ads. I guess it works out fine, I'm ok with using the terminal, but I have no idea how to switch to portrait in terminal... Is it possible? Or do i need to be running Zemufe to do portrait?

Software / Snes9x... No Startup At All
« on: March 25, 2005, 03:34:54 pm »
Ok I'm relatively inept at all this terminal stuff, but I've played with my 5500 long enough to be able to follow most instructions. Now, I've been trying to run snes9x for a long time, both with zemufex and just straight terminal launches. I'm trying to start a Chrono Trigger rom, but no matter what combinations I try I have absolutely no luck. I don't even get weird screen errors, just nothing happens. In the terminal I get
"/usr/bin/snes9x: Permission denied". And zemufe won't even change screens. It just sits there when I click the rom.
A good step-by-step guide would be very nice, just on how to get snes9x running on a 5500 with the 3.10 sharp rom. (If it's absolutely nescessary, I can flash to OZ pretty quickly...) Thanks in advance.

Software / Who has been able to get Stratagus (WarCraft2) to work?
« on: December 27, 2004, 10:07:25 am »
Starcraft would need alot more processing power than WC2. I doubt it would run reasonably on the Z. I'd also be interested in running Stratagus on my 5500, but it seems it's only worked so far on the C series.

Software / Dr.z Video Player
« on: December 26, 2004, 10:15:05 pm »
SL-5500
SharpRom 3.10
512MB CF
128MB SD

Those are my specs, and I've actually bought Dr.Z player in hope of watching some movies on my Zaurus. I converted some AVIs and MPEGs using VirtualDub, and following all the instructions in the Dr.Z readme file. I've managed to get movie's running fine and at a great FPS on the zaurus, but sound refuses to play, although it will play on the computer. I'm assuming this is because the audio stream for the video is not MP3 format. I did change the audio compression setting to Mpeg layer 3, but I noticed there are no bitrate options to the right. Uhh.. Help?
