C1000/3x00 Hardware / Compilation Of Wifi Cf For 3k
« on: February 20, 2005, 06:34:22 am »
I have a Buffalo WLI2-CF-S11. Initially it only worked with the prism2 driver and WEP.

I now have it working with hostap and WPA, that was a bit of work though and i don't consider it finished either. The main steps were

- merge wireless extensions 15 from kernel 2.4.21 (i used this one as a basis: http://tetsu.homelinux.org/zaurus/kernel/v17f/)
- recompile the wireless tools and hostap for this kernel (enable all the firmware update functions)
- upgrade station firmware on the card from 1.3.5 to 1.7.4 (see http://linux.junsun.net/intersil-prism/)
- modify pcmcia scripts, mostly /etc/pcmcia/wlan-ng, also /etc/pcmcia/network

Qt/Qtopia / Proxy Settings
« on: January 30, 2005, 01:40:33 pm »
Hi,

can anyone tell me how browsers get the proxy settings after a connection has been established?

I'm trying to use hostap/wpa_supplicant's own scan and join, which now works up to dhcp, but i haven't found yet how to update the proxy information depending on which network was actually joined, so it's always the one that i set in the network settings proxy tab.

Sharp ROMs / What Is Needed For Hostap

Are you saying you didn't need any ARM or zaurus specific patches to hostap/wpa_supplicant 0.3.2?

Sharp ROMs / What Is Needed For Hostap
« on: January 01, 2005, 12:43:33 pm »
Hi all...

since there's not yet such a thing as a Cacko ROM for the C-3000, i've been trying myself to replace prism2_cs with hostap, just in order to have a client station with WPA, but so far with no success.

Since the makers of the Cacko ROM seem to have managed :) I am wondering, was there anything special that needed to be done to/for hostap, e.g. kernel patches, patches to hostap/wpa_supplicant?

I'm using the original Sharp kernel, and hostap/wpa_supplicant 0.3.2, and a Buffalo WLI2-CF-S11, station firmware 1.7.4, and the driver, program and card seem to be talking to each other fine, but don't associate with the AP in  WEP or WPA-PSK TKIP, which is what i've tried so far.

Any tips?
