5x00 General discussions / Mp3 Playing
« on: January 16, 2006, 07:29:19 pm »
That's the "simple" question:
What's the best way to get an mp3 player (with a qt frontend) working on 5500?

It should:
have Playlists
work on tkcROM

If anyone could point me to download places would be great!
I've been searching but got to many 'non-working' and it's too late now to even see the screen...

TIA!

Spain / Reproductor De Mp3 / Ogg
« on: January 16, 2006, 06:18:31 pm »

Have you checked and cleaned battery contacts?
Because if contact is weak, then not enough voltage will be directed to batt.

C1000/3x00 General discussions / As Per Sd - 60x Vs. 120x Vs. Whateva...

I think that it is actually an SD slot, but an MMC controller on the software side.
Since, IMHO, there are no opensource SD drivers out there, there's no much that can be done... or isn't it like that?
On the other side, let's say you've got an slow MMC card, when you use it on the Z it will work together with Z's MMC driver, but I don't think you'll ever get the MMC maximum speed, as always happens for different reasons.
So this makes me think that if we use a faster card (with slower delays, etc.) with a slower driver, we might, indeed, get some speed improvement, unless in the limits of MMC specs.
I need to try that one of these days...
It is true, also, that I could be completely wrong here, of course.

One final note. If you purchase the C1K off ebay be prepared for a very BASIC english translation (if any).  Mine was switched to english, but there are still many little un-renderable boxes in most apps.
[...]

Plus, progress is being made on a Cacko rom for the C1K (basically the stock ROM translated), so I figure I will be able to get WHATEVER I end up needing...

[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=86711\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

You can easily flash an english converted backup, too.

And Cacko is a bit (LOT) more than just a translation.

For the battery pack, I'd say they are small enough to fit anywhere, mine's 2.8x2.8x1 inches. You can even get an AAA batts pack, which is smaller but for less batt life, of course.
You see, many things to think about!  As TsingTao said, be creative, is a good advice.

Use it with light set at medium, and be careful when setting it high when need it to remember to lower light when you don't, and it will last for several hours of NOT intensive use.
WIFI? Best thing you can do is to get a car adapter, travel adapter, battery extender and any other kind of energy supply to keep it alive.
I've got all mentioned and power is no big deal now.

The batt extender I made it myself, but you can buy one. Take a walk on the forums and you'll find many providers.
You'll find how to make one yourself too.
It's easy to make, but maybe you'll be using it faster if you buy it and besides, you won't save one buck if you make it yourself... It's worth just for entertainment, IMHO.

Don't do that. Not in c3000. (as I've read in some posts, unless you've got a BIG CF/SD card and a lot of time.   )
It's got a 4GB HDD.
[edit]
It is actually not that easy.
Take a look to this great Trisoft manual, for detailed info.

Software / Kde-pim/pi 2.1.0 Available!
« on: June 22, 2005, 04:08:45 am »
It's in the kdepim zip file of every version.
It's called korganizer-alarm_2.1.8_arm.ipk (whatever version, of course)
If you didn't installed it already then you definitely should. It'll wake your sleepy Z up.
It works for sure with (many) last versions.

[edit]
So you did have it installed already. Then you know what the problem was now. We all are learning a lot here and with these wonderful pieces of soft, aren't we?

I'm using 2.1.8 version on my c1k an working great so far.
It is found at sourceforge, as always.

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Battery Switch Is There For...
« on: June 19, 2005, 10:47:39 am »
Oh, thanks!.
That's new to me. Then what changed is probably just software, not hardware.
I still find useful to use the switch to turn off the unit, no need to open battery lid...
It is not that I'm that lazy! (or is it...?)
