General Discussion / The Future Of Tyrannozaurus.com

I still live.

It was indeed taken over by spam and the hosting company took the site down. Sorry about that.
I have some plans for a site upgrade in the new year.
Stay tuned.

Akihabaranews have finally noticed:
http://www.akihabaranews.com/en/news-17192...Linux+PDA..html
I just popped in to post the same link but it looks like others are aware already.
Here's a memorable link:

It's the end of Zaurus production, but the Zaurus lives on.
I propose we all lift a pint tonight to one of the best PDA's that has ever been made.
Few devices have taught us Linux and patience so well.
*Cheers* to the Zaurus for a hell of a ride.

I had one taker.
Anyone else want to have their own space to blog about Zaurus stuff and store Zaurus files?
I should also add that I would be happy to install a Wordpress or Drupal blog for you if you would like.

I may be interested when pdaX2 gets out (for hosting packages), but until (and maybe not even) then, I have no need.

If your offer is still open if and when that point comes about, then I'll take you up on it. Thank you much for the generous offer, however!
You're welcome, and ya, just let me know.

First off, thanks for all the encouragement and offers to help. Regarding $, because of donation(s) I haven't had to pay anything out of my pocket yet (thankas to the donations). Renewal is coming up in Dec/Jan, so if you wish to donate, that's a good time.

Secondly, sorry if I wasn't clear... No worries, tyrannozaurus.com isn't going to fade away. I was simply suggesting some changes.

Oh, and I'll keep the forum open, since it sounds like you guys want it open. Works for me.

And I won't remove the handbook. there's already a fair amount of good info in there.
If people wish to contribute, working on the handbook is a great way to do that.

Any takers on having their own site?
You would get:
-your own sub-domain: whateveryouwant.tyrannozaurus.com
-ftp account
-ssh account
-1GB space

if your interested, reply below or send me a PM.

Howdy,
I'm finding that with two little kids, two jobs, a wife, starting University (you're never too old), home reno's, etc, I'm not really left with much free time to work on tyrannozaurus proper.
Changes...
-The forum has become a bit of a ghost town, so I'm thinking I'll disable it and make an off-line copy available.
-"it's a good Linux morning podcast" has been moved to a dot com address and we're planning on starting up again in a few months (before Christmas).
-I'm willing to offer compilers and/or Zaurus enthusiasts an FTP account and your own Zaurus website (and feed), 4free. I'll hook you up with: http://youralias.tyrannozaurus.com and a gig of space. (send me a msg if this interests you). I just ask that it have some Zaurus related stuff on the site, and please try not to get slash dotted.

***NOTE***
there is just under 2 days left and I just dropped the starting price to $299

Hey there,
I'm selling my C1000 and accessories:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...em=120273509454

First off, no worries, tyrannozaurus.com isn't going anywhere.
Secondly, I'm getting a N810, so I'm still going to be in the portable Linux devices fun town.  (I'll probably add a Nokia section to ty, if you guys don't mind too much)

When the kids get a bit older and I have more time to hack around, I'll probably pick up a Zaurus again. I just can't afford both right now.

Hardware Mods / Usb Cam In Zaurus
« on: February 22, 2008, 07:32:30 pm »
Hello,

Not sure if there anything out there like this, but I'm looking for:
-digital CMOS camera QVGA or VGA the size that you would find in a mobile phone
-has USB interface
-has linux USB drivers

I'm OK ripping one apart if the guts of it are what I need, but just the raw camera would probably be best.

sounds like you know more then I do. Capn_Fish how does climber's post look?

Regarding php sources, you can download a 70+MB apachetools file that should contain all the sources and has a nice menu driven compile options.
I would recommend giving it a try.

From googling it looks like it might need to be recompiled, look at this thread:
http://lists.horde.org/archives/dev/Week-o...626/020085.html
I too would like an uptodate working LAMP for pdaXrom

here is probably the easiest way to compile it: http://www.apachetoolbox.com/
Anyone one want to give it a try?
I'll see if I can find time to try compiling it on the weekend if no one else beats me to it.

I sent cycle_55 one of the usb wifi adaptors and since he uses beta3 I was hoping he could use it.
