What have you tried to mount an iPod?

Does this offer any help?

Why not?

Gotcha. Thanks.

I don't recall FBVNC being part of the HOWTO. Did I miss something?

So, if you didn't use it, then you wouldn't be able to tap items on the screen?

And you're connecting to fbvnc as local loopback?

Sorry, I'm very new to this.

There's an awful lot of Japanese on my new C3000. Should this be so?

For instance, on the lower-left on all the screens in which you enter data, there is a set of Japanese characters. Until I turn that into a keyboard icon, all that I enter converts into Japanese characters.

Is something amiss? Or is this normal?

Well, I am having a terrible time accessing the site.

I can get there now, but when I click on Downloads, nothing happens. I've tried it in Firefox _and_ IE.

The link provided above produced a 404 in both IE and Firefox.

I wonder if it's my hosts file...

Since I'm sitting here unable to access your document, and have a lot of time before I can download it at another spot, what's in it?

That URL isn't working. I can ping the IP, but I can't raise a web site there.

Looking forward to seeing what you sent.

Whenever I read a message like the one I'm about to write, I find it a bit frustrating. How is it that I am supposed to help someone else with a case of Buyer's Remorse. I don't know what to tell them.

And yet, I feel like >I< have buyer's remorse after having purchased my c3000... and I don't know what I should do.

I received my C3000 yesterday from Dynamism and it's a nice device. It's smaller than I thought, very compact, but easy to use.  The screen is amazing and while I don't really care for the fonts installed, it's pretty darn nice.

Then I asked myself a question that I should have asked BEFORE I bought it:

What the heck do I do with it?

I had planned to purchase it and install Debian as per the HOW TO. I wanted the experience with Linux and I had been playing with a SuSE desktop in my spare time. So, I thought this would be a great experience, plus, with all the accolades I read about Linux and how it's going to help me be a better person (technically, mind you), I figured it's a can't miss.

Then I started to list the things I _COULD_ use it for ... and I came up quite blank. Date Book? Address Book? Phone List? On-The-Go Internet Access? That's all done on my Treo 600.

And then? And then?

I drew a blank. And I became very nervous that since this is a Japanese device and since I don't ultimately know what the heck I'm doing in Linux, I could seriously damage it and wind-up, simply, out-of-luck.

I obviously don't know what I _CAN_ do with such a device. What is it? A PDA? A mini-computer? If it's a mini-computer, how I can carry it as a desktop replacement? Is that even possible? How do I even connect it up to a desktop to transfer files?

Dynamism did not ship any English documentation to me. I was a bit surprised, but I figured I just missed something.

Is it possible to install Debian w/ ICEWM and Open-Office? That would make it a pretty darn nice documentation manager. Does Debian see the same WiFI cards QTopia does?

I am sitting here looking at what could be a simply wonderful device with all kinds of possibilities, but I don't know what I should nor what I can do with it!

For the first time since owning computers, I don't know what the heck to do. ;-)

Any thoughts are welcome.

Cheers,

Mike...

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Conics' C3000 Price...

Very interesting.

The price of the C3000 @ Conics has dropped three times in three days. It's now down to $735.00.

Is this is a result of Yen/Dollar conversion? Or is something else going on?
