My ignorance becomes apparent.
My phone has bluetooth, but I have no idea how to integrate the two. Can anyone me through the process?

So, I've had a good search through the forums but can't find anyone who's mentioned mobile modem or mobile internet access.
Is it possible on the 3000?
I've seen those little Virgin cards. Will they plug into the CF or SD slot?
Apologies if this question has an obvious answer.

2 in 1. What a bargain for you problem solvers out there

Firstly - has anyone had any luck getting OSX to recognise their 3000 as a USB? I'm assuming I need to install a driver but have no idea how to do that on a MAC (works machine).

Secondly - just as I thought I was on top of the movie thing, it appears there's an audio sync issue. After around 10 minutes the audio slips out of line with the video. This happens on every movie I've tried. However, this only happens on my 3000 and not when I play the same file on either my MAC or PC. Any ideas?

Enough room for a couple of episodes of Futurama to see me through the morning's journey

There are some whopping 2gig SD cards out soon so that will free up a bit more HD space for movies.

Meant to add - anyone who finds that the iso MPEG v1 codec is not available in Windows Media Encoder just needs to install WME v7.1 and it will magiclly appear.

I'm still playing with the settings in AVI rips and subsequent WME transfers so I'll keep this thread posted if I find any improvements in settings (or software).

I'm rather busy at the moment, having spent the whole morning ignoring work and getting down to this movie playing problem that has been the bane of my existence for the last 3 days but I've finally solved it.

First you need to convert your DVD to an avi, then encode it through MS Media Encoder as ISO MPEG4 v1 codec (video) and Mpeg Layer 3 codec (sound) as described in this indispensible link by Chris Double http://www.double.co.nz/zaurus/

Any problems, email me at namealreadygone@yahoo.co.uk

I'm no expert, but I've spent so long messing around that I'll probably be able to answer most of your basic problems with regards to getting it working (and it'll save you the trouble).

Okay, I've installed the USB network driver as specified in the manual and XP says its all working wonderfully. So where is it?  I assume dit would show up as an external device but I can't find it anywhere.
Also, should the 3000 be set to PCLink or Storage? and should it be set to TCP/IP or I/O?
Many questions - thanks for any help.

Cheers Blue and Doug - that's sorted it. A trashcan might also be a good idea. Now if I can just get XP to recognise this damn USB driver...
A weekend of fun ahead.

My 3000 keeps telling me I 'don't have permission' every time I try to move files from one folder to another. Any ideas? Is it something simple and I'm an idiot?

I just wanted to add that, although I did not eventually order my 3000 from Dynamism, they were one of the most helpful and gracious companies I have ever dealt with. I look forward to the day I need to purchase something from them. Definitely recommended.

Software / Sl-c 3000 Essential Software?
« on: January 07, 2005, 09:38:13 am »
Hi. I've just ordered my SL-C3000 (excited). It doesn't turn up until Jan 20th but I thought I'd log in now and sample your experience.

Does anyone have any recommendations of third party software? I know it comes with some pre-installed but I've heard that some of it is not so hot. Anything you'd recommend replacing immediately?

I'll be using it to play music and movies and, of course, as a word processor and organiser. I'm already thinking about installing Mplayer and perhaps a different Music organiser

Any recommendations are much appreciated.
