Can these settings changed be used to remove that ghost lines/image that appear above things? if so which would help it more com or phase?

About a year ago I also mentioned the problem I had with ghost lines (Sharp rom). I tried to remove them with com/phase manupilation.. it didn't help me then. While reading this topic today I decided to give it another go and yes     .. for the first time I had my Z I got rid of the ugly ghost lines by adjusting the phase from 0 to 7. So adjust phase in case of ghost problems and com in case of screenflickering I would say.

Rebooting doesn't help me nothing. About wifi, I'm still waiting for my asus card to arrive so that's not the cause either. But the screen flickering can be solved by adjusting the "Com adj" and "LCD Phase" settings. Still, I'm left with the "disturbances" I talked about. I'll try to make an mpeg of this tomorrow and post it.

Start it from the shell, you'll probably get more feedback about what's wrong or missing. Magnification can be unset when you select and hold the icon.

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Mplayer With Bvdd - Wont !

Bvdd driver + mplayer really works although it was a little buggy in my case. I had more success starting the mplayer from a remote than from a local shell. Usually I had to give the mplayer command a couple of times before it actually started playing.

I can't give you step by step instructions right now because I'm dealing with another problem (and restored to original settings) but at least you should have the following packages installed: bvdd_0.1.0-1_arm.ipk, mplayer-bvdd_1.0.0-1_arm.ipk and libmad (libmad_0.15.0b-zports-0_arm.ipk?).

To start the mplayer enter something like:
Code: [Select]
bash$ mplayer -framedrop -vo bvdd -vop rotate=1 -ss 10 -ac mad Documents/Movie_Files/file.aviAs I have stated before, I had always had to give this command a couple of times before the movie actually started.

The one thing I didn't succeed in was to play a movie in fullscreen format independent of the source format (so showing a 320x240 format fullscreen on the 640x480 Z display). Kino I didn't use (yet).

Adjusting the "Com adj" and "LCD Phase" settings might solve the problem for me (and perseus too) but there is another problem: no "Reset" option in the "Extra menu". I had to remove the battery to reset the Z, will this discard the changes that I've made within the service menu?

High/low battery power or connected to the outlet, brightness full or low: the screen problem remains. I think it is time to call Dynamism and send the Z back for repair  Maybe we can enjoy cacko or pdaxrom by the time I get it back again
Thanks for your report Jonathan!

M-Morino, I also didn't overclock my Z.

Perseus, as I already wrote, I started to notice the display problems with the x-desktop but if you look real close when moving a floating window in Qtopia it also shows (in case a not so bright background has been set). For example when you select the "Reboot" option from the Qtopia menu, a confirmation requester appears. Don't you see a darker area above this window (in landscape mode), even better to be seen when moved around?

I attached a screenshot  [ Invalid Attachment ]  of an empty x-desktop, could you please view this bitmap fullscreen on your Z, set brightness all the way up and examine if your screen is still without disturbances? I'm really interested in the result although it differs from the "backlight flickering" problem you described.

A couple of days ago I installed X/Qt with Fluxbox and then I first noticed the display being far from perfect (p.e. the Cthulhain theme). When I open an xterm I can also see a ghost window. The background of the empty x-desktop shows all kind of interferences, this becomes worse when the background gets darker. All of this I didn't notice before within Qtopia, as there aren't so many floating window apps. Rebooting or brightness adjusting doesn't solve the problem for me.

What do you think about this, Perseus? Might it be the same problem?

Whats also strange is that someone else had exactly the same problem - they did a restore to fix it. However, Im left wondering if its something that could happen to any C3000s. They also purchased from Conics. I'll ask Conics if they know of a fix.
It also happened twice with my Dynamism unit. I remember that the first time I tried out a borrowed SD memory card and probably forgot to unmount it before a reboot. Eventually after a couple of hard resets / removing battery it actually stopped looping and booted ok. The second time I don't know what caused it but it wasn't related to SD or CF cards (don't have any yet). The Z was usb tcp/ip connected though. Hard resetting / battery removal didn't solve the problem, so I had to do a restore.

Trying this, at the second menu (step 6) it would not proceed - it gave a japanese dialog prompt with an OK button, clicking it, would not let me proceed, coming back to the menu again.
You should get a confirmation (YES/NO, OK/CANCEL) dialog after selecting the 3th followed by the 1st item in the servicemenu. Within this dialog you should select the option on the left to confirm. Strange yours has only one button?
