Cxx0 General discussions / C760 860 Differences?
« on: February 18, 2005, 05:56:09 pm »
Hey there, what is the difference between the C860 and the C760? There seems to be a $100 difference.  I started to look at the 5600 and then the 6000 but could not find decent priced 6000's. The S760 from what i've noticed is the same as a 6000 but not with usb host or integrated wifi. On the subject of host usb.  Do USB host cards work? I am looking to connect my sprint phone to the 760..

Also, wheres best place to get the 760 NEW?

thanks guys!

Yeah, not having that CF slot open while using a CF usb host card is not all that appealing.  However, I would be using the CF usb host card for my phone and I would use the SD slot for storage. Would be nice though to not have to take up a CF slot for that.  Kinda looking into the clamshell models. They seem a bit pricey. The C700 seems to be the 5600 comparable model, right?

The "Wireless Web" refers to the old 2G technology. Vision is the newer 3G service.  It does not count towards your minutes at all. However, it does state in the user agreement that using it this way is against their policy.  The risk is up to you whether you want to go against it or not. They could charge you 1cent for every K you use though. You have to have a vision enabled phone to be able to use the #777 in the way we're speaking of.

Now, so this works fine on a 6000. But how about on a 5600 with a host USB cf card?

Hello relux,

Check out my thread in C3000 forum.

With C3000, you don't need to have ratoc CF card, and also device driver (acm.o) is pre-installed.

Thanks for the reply. Being the 5600, (or if i an find a cheap 6000 which also is usb host) a cf usb host card would do the trick though right?

Cheers

Yeah, the usb host capabilities is huge.  There are however usb host flash cards out there that work, right? It seems the C750 is about the same price as the 6000 depending on where you look.  I have looked into a 5500 however the faster processor and available memory is the big reason I would go with the 5600.  The screen is a huge improvement and a major reason I would pay more, still undecided. :/

Looking for a Z. Is the price difference between the 6000 and the 5600 worth it? Still leaning towards a 5600 for in the 200-300 range. Not sure if another 200 to 300 dollars for the 6000 is worth it. Any input?

I think the reason prople are blowing out the 6000 is simple.  Word on the street is that Sharp is doing another blowout in the next few weeks, "March?" thus the push to unload these at inflated prices, "suckers?"  Like all good tell-tales I'll share a source.

SL-6000L $549 shipping SOON

They're not shipping yet but I'm seeing more of these pop out of nowhere fast, 2/14/05. Tempting  ..

Hey all,

Looking to buy my 3rd PDA. I have had a Ipaq and a Jornada die on me. Not going the pocket pc route anymore.  I have been a full time linux user for almost 6 years now so am very familir with it and that has pulled me to the Zaurus. Have not been able to afford one however before.  I am now looking at the SL5600 as the price seems to be okay now for me.  I have a few questions that maybe someone could answer for me.

1) Has anyone sucessfully got the Sprint PCS Vision to work through the zaurus. Using the familiar #777 connection to connect to sprints vision. I see there is this:
http://www.ratocsystems.com/english/produc...ages/cfu1u.html

Will that let me connect my phone then use ppp to connect as I do on my desktop?
I am not too familiar with the hardware.

2) What is the deal with the bug in the pxa250? Is this going to hinder my performance if I buy a device that has this issue? Do the roms out there fix the problem or would I be better off trying to find one without this issue.

3) What kind of space requirments does xfree86 need?

Any help would be much appreciated!
