I purchased my Zaurus from a co-worker back in February.  I loved it for a month, then just ended up putting it aside.  I haven't used this for about 2 months now.   It is just sitting on my desk taking up space.  Very little, but its space.  In any event, some bills have come in, and they need to be paid, the Zaurus has to go.

Here is what you recieve with this item:

This is currently running Cacko Linux with Qtopia. A Clean install will be performed before the Item is shipped out. This is a great little tool to have for any Linux lover or sysadmin on the go. As many of you already know, this item is not available for retail purchase in the US, so, take advantage of this while you can. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.


In the event you do not know the specs for this item, here they are.

Display: 3.7" TFT CG Silicon display color LCD, 64,000 colors. Semi-transmissive, backlit. VGA Resolution: 640 x 480 pixels.

Battery 1700mAh Lithium Ion rechargeable. Battery is user replaceable. This battery is the extended battery, Sharp also makes a smaller capacity battery.

Performance: Intel PXA255 400 MHz XScale processor. 128 megs of RAM for storage, ~ 64 of which is available to the user and 64 MB program memory.

Size: 4.25" x 3.25" x 1.0" at thickest point of hinge, .8" for the rest of the unit. Weight Approximately 9.5 ounces (120 x 83 x 23.6mm. Weight: 250 grams).

Software: Linux-based operating system (OpenPDA). Calendar, Address Book, To-Do, and Memo apps, Hancom Office suite: Word processor compatible with Word docs, spreadsheet app compatible with Excel files, NetFront v.3 web browser, E-mail program supporting POP3, SMTP, IMAP4 protocols, ImagePad image viewer and editor, Video Player (plays one flavor of MPEG4), Music Player for MP3s, Voice Recorder, Text Editor, Calculator, Clock, City Time, backup app and more. Java runtime included.

Audio: Built in speaker, and 3.5mm stereo headphone jack that can also accommodate a microphone.

Expansion: 1 SD (Secure Digital) slot (not SDIO). 1 CF type II slot. IR port.

thank you for the tutorial.  I went through, uninstalling libpcap, libopie1 and 2, and wellenreiter.  I attempted to install each package from the tarball, to no avail.  When i first tried to install libpcap, it told me that there may be other dependancies, and I should install them as well.  I tried to forge on and install the libopie libraries, but, to no avail.

the error message I am getting with ipkg is "ipkg says something went wrong. sorry"

this has been happening for a few days now, i will make a different post about that.

in any event.  I connected to the cacko feed and re-installed wellenreiter.  I can run it again with the changes made to the confs and all that, but, still nothing.  It scans, but, does not discover a network, whereas kismet picks up 2 still.

I am using Cacko Zaurus Qtopia Rom 1.21a incase it is any help to anyone.

I was able to get wellenreiter installed on my zaurus.  after some initial problems where it would tell me that it couldnt initiate eth0 because a file or directory could not be found, I finally got wellenreiter to scan.

problem is, is that its not picking up any networks.  I know many of you are asking, well, are you in a wifi area?  yes.  Kismet picks up the 2 networks nearest to me at the office, while wellenreiter, though the title bar shows scanning, does not.

my question is, is it possible that I have wellenreiter configured incorrectly?  could someone share with me the correct config for wellenreiter?  also, does wellenreiter require a certain signal from a wifi network?  the signal on one of the networks is rather low, while one is fair.
