Thanks,
Doug

Windows Issues / Outlook 2003

Hello. I have working connection with Outlook 2003 with SL-5500 and Sharp based ROM. Only one issue left. I cannot directly sync with Exchange folders, I have to first sync those folders to local pst file and then to Zaurus. Still I think e-mail synchronization sometimes crash e-mail client, but for contacts, calendar, todo and notes it works without any big problems (just some stability issues sync freezes sometimes etc...). In Outlook 2000 worked also sync directly with Exchange folders. I hope that Sharp and Intellisync will fix that problem and improove stability of synchronization. There are also ppl that cannot choose their e-mail application or groupware system at work because they work in Windows funclub based company (like me:-))

Hi Merli,

Question for you.  I see that you created a local .pst file in Outlook 2003 and then synched it to your server.  May I ask how you did that?  Outlook 2003 seems to want to use an .ost (offline storage) file for synchronization.  When you look at synchronization options on any of the Outlook 2003 folders, they all need to synch to a local .ost file.  We know that the Zaurus version of IntelliSync doesn't talk to .ost files ...

Thanks,
Doug

6000 - Tosa / Am I Going Crazy?
« on: September 27, 2006, 05:39:04 pm »
Am I going crazy?

Does anyone on the forum IntelliSync their SL-6000 to Outlook 2003 on Windows XP?  I'm sure I had this working a year back on an older machine.  I can telnet and VNC to the SL-6000 so I think that my drivers are installed properly.  File Transfer is intermittent, Backup seems to work OK.

When I try to sync, I get an inital message to "Put Zaurus in the docking station".  Once I click "OK", it dies.

In my case, Outlook is connected to the Exchange server over HTTPS.  Could that be the difference?

Thanks for any help!

6000 - Tosa / Sl-6000 Navigation Button Problems
« on: August 18, 2006, 11:27:57 am »
Yep.

I get the same thing from time to time.  I'm also having the same problem with the other keys (OK, Cancel).  If you keep pressing them on and off for a while the problem seems to correct itself.  Seems like it could be a corrosion problem.

I'm concerned about how long I can keep using this unsupported device.  If the keys don't get me, eventually the battery is going to die and then I'll be SOL.

I am finding the font size (12 max ) in the Terminal application far too small to read. Is there a way of increasing this? The zoom fuction doesn't seem to have an impact up, only down.

Thanks for any help

I am using 1.12, and I am not sure how to do this in Terminal, but I use Qkonsole and a font package called FreeMonoFont which includes some larger monospaced fonts.

I hope this helps,

Craig...

Hey Crag,

Where can you get FreeMonoFont?  I saw some on killefiz but they're pretty old ...

6000 - Tosa / Touch Screen Problem

When you say not responding, I'm assuming you mean: Tap | nothing, Tap| nothing...

Have you tried a reset? And barring that, have you tried to reformat?  Instructions are in the wiki on oesf.org.

Yep, your description of the problem is correct.  I've tried both hard and soft resets with same result.  Checked dmesg and there don't appear to be any drive load errors.

I'll have a look at the reformat instructions.  Sounds extreme.

I believe the problem has been solved.  I un-installed the most recently added software (VNC Server).  Performed hard reset and screen is responding now.

Folks,

For some reason, the screen on my SL-6000 is not responding to input.  I baby this thing, using both a screen protector & Piel Frama case.  Any suggestions?  Am I cooked?

Thanks,
Doug

Software / Qpdf2 Version 2.3.0
« on: March 31, 2006, 11:25:18 am »
Hi,

It looks like a new version of qpdf2 was posted on SourceForge in December here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/qpdf2/

It is available as a tarball, not in ipk format like the last release.  Has anyone tried it out yet?  The old version is kind of unreliable with large .pdf files.

Cheers,
Doug

Accessories / Headset For Voip - Sl3100
« on: March 03, 2006, 08:36:01 pm »
Hi Otto,

Nokia headsets appear to work OK.  I plugged in my old Nokia 3390 headset and it worked fine.  Used to hate the fact that Nokia uses those micro plugs (2.5mm) but now it has a second life.

Cheers,
Doug

General Discussion / Application Misbehavior
« on: February 15, 2006, 12:05:46 am »
OK,

So you're working with an app in Qtopia and it suddenly locks the UI.  What do you do?  If I'm working on good old SUSE I just Ctrl-Alt-Backspace and I'm at the command line.  Now where is that rouge app ...

How do people deal with this when working on a Zaurus?  I find Opera locks the UI from time to time, but other apps have as well.

Any comments appreciated.

Thanks,
Doug

Software / Ldap Browser?
« on: February 13, 2006, 09:59:37 am »
Hi,

Has anyone ever come across a graphical LDAP browser for the Z?  If not I'm thinking of writing one in Java or Qt.

Thanks,
Doug

Even after following the instructions above, this thing does not work on the SL-6000.  I ran this app before on SL-5500 with no problems.  On the 6000 the icon turns to the "launch" icon but nothing after that.

Accessories / Where Could I Buy This Accessory?
« on: February 10, 2006, 11:07:14 am »
Hi,

I bought one for the SL-5500 from these guys:
http://www.suntekstore.com/pm-cb-lsync-sharpsl5500.html

I bought this one for my SL-6000:
http://www.boxwave.com/products/easyfinder...ssories_501.htm

It works very well with my SL-6000.  Haven't used my docking station for about a year.

Regards,
Doug
