Umm, interesting... If they bill it as airtime usage, that could easily get very expensive.

What about latency? Is RTT within 300ms window?

there is an unlimited EV-DO + 1x plan... $80/mo... check with your company to see about getting any discounts... I work for one of the largest communications companies and virtually all divisions of Verizon use our products (including EV-DO) and as such we get around a 20% discount which makes it stomachable (yeah, we make the stuff but we don't get it for free, hehe). I was told by a VZW rep that our discount is the largest he has ever seen......

Hi,

On SHARP USA website here,
it works fine for me. I could download the EXE file (25Mb) and then execute it to extract all the files in a directory.

Thanks for the reply, but that is the site I'm referring to. It seems like a 6000 CD from the site, but if you expand it, take a look at some of the files... it's in fact a 5500 CD...

Any more pointers?

6000 - Tosa / Need Installation Cd For 6000

Hi Everyone,

I need to get an ISO or an archive of the original 6000 installation CD. Anyone have it?

The link on Sharp's site actually gives you the 5500 CD, not the 6000 CD!

And I found a link on this site by searching, but the file is no longer there.

Any help would be appreciated!

J

For Sale / Wanted / Mint Zaurus Sl-6000l + Extra Sync & 256 Mb Sd
« on: June 16, 2005, 03:07:20 pm »
Start your bidding! It's been great, but I must move on. The screen is perfect without any scratches or bum pixels. You really can't tell that it has ever been used.

The extra cable I'm including allows you to sync and charge off the USB port on any computer instead of having to carry around the cradle.

I'm also including a mint Sandisk 256 MB SD flash card for storage of extra data, MP3s, photos, etc.

Sharp ROMs / Feeling Lost With 6000

There is no cacko on the 6k, but Maslovsky said they were planning on porting it, although the main focus is clearly the clamshell models.
What kind of apps are you looking for?

Oh, I dunno. I just search Zaurus Software Index and find an app that looks cool and would be useful to me and then it doesn't work. Usually the problem is either it's a new ipkg that won't work with the built-in GUI installer (those sometimes I can get the packages to install with ipkg-new but I don't know how to get them to install to the SD or CF instead of internal).

Sometimes the problem is missing dependencies and sometimes I can locate and install them and other times not.

And sometimes the packages just hang or don't run at all or complain about versioning problems with other stuff...

I guess what I need to find is a list of 6000-tested packages, especially for the Sharp ROM.

Sharp ROMs / Feeling Lost With 6000
« on: March 23, 2005, 08:50:28 pm »
Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the Zaurus world. I bought a 6000 a couple months ago and quickly fell in love with the screen, built-in WiFi, SD+CF, etc.

But now I'm a little lost. I tried out OpenZaurus and it was very promising but it had some disturbing incompatibilities (no brightness control and suspend/resume loops) with the 6000 so I abandoned it. Still no update, so I wait.

I want to run some of the newer software out there that seems really really nice, but most of it never seems to work on the stock Sharp ROM.

A lot of people seem to like Cacko and Cacko seems like it would be very nice for me, but I've never seen that it runs on the 6000.

In general, are the 5500/5600 and 6000 compatible?

And will the Cacko ROM work on the 6000? (Or is there a plan to branch?)

I'm just at a loss here. I came from the Palm (Handspring) world and had tons of applications to choose from that "just worked." But since I'm a Linux user I thought the Zaurus would be a great fit.

So any help or recommendations out there for the 6000 user?
