C1000/3x00 General discussions / Sudo Display Hack?
« on: April 19, 2005, 10:03:01 am »
i am delighted with a recent c3000 purchase, however it disturbed me some apps i wanted to use were made for older models and did not load 640x480 ... mainly wellenreiter was the main one i wanted to use properly... executing normally just ran in portraight with poor resolution... i then installed sudo and ran sudo wellenreiter and it loaded 640x480 with perfect resolution! It does not switch between, like the other apps, and locks into vertical if you try to swap, but for sole use of an app is perfect. I am not sure *why* this worked for me, or if it is commonly known, but i thought i would post as i did have to install sudo from elsewhere, so it did not come 'ready'... running Sharp 1.01 ROM.

C1000/3x00 General discussions / C3000 Console?
« on: April 18, 2005, 07:47:14 am »
I had to restore....
Quote
First solution (Will erase all data):
1) Remove the battery cover and press the reset switch.
2) Replace the battery cover.
3) Hold the OK button and power on the unit.
4) Plug in the unit.
5) Select the third option in the menu.
6) Select the first option in the second menu.
7) Wait (May take longer then 5 minutes).
System will then boot in Japanese. Dynamism customers should email c700support@dynamism.com to obtain further instructions for their units.

Now i've booted it into the gui (in japanese) and i have no Konsole....
how may i get a shell console so i can su and reconv to get it back to normal?

I try to go through Tree!Explorer QT, select that file bring up the propertues and make the changes in the security tab making group root, and it give me an error "premission configuration failed. chmod()...return code:-1...errno:1
Am I attempting to make the change wrong? Would love to have wellenreiter not  complain that it's not running as root. It still works, I just liek things to work "right".
The programs you start using the Launcher are usualy launched as "zaurus" user, so for obvious security reasons you can't change the owner of a file to "root".
You have two solutions:
1) You can tap the Tree!Explorer icon in the launcher and keep the stylus pressed on the icon until you reach the Detail screen for that application, then check the "Execute wuth root privilege (not secure)" checkbox, then tap "OK", restart Tree!Explorer and do the property change again, this time since the program is run as root it won't give you error messages (though for some reason Tree!Explorer exited - after performing the change - when I tried to change the owner of a file from zaurus to root). Just make sure to uncheck that checkbox after, as it's not safe to keep root privilege all the time, since you could easily delete a needed system file if you tap on the wrong place, and prevent your Zaurus from working.

2) You can open a terminal window, and change the owner and group using the "chown" and "chgrp" commands respectively. Faster, if you know how to use the console...
Hope this helps!

Please help!
I tried that, rebooted, ran wellenriet, but it could nto initailize m interface, and niether could wifi connect... so i changed it back and ran reboot ... it locked up, so i removed the battery, and reinserted.... now my c3000 won't boot!
what have i done and how can i recify? Please help someone?

Has anyone managed to get through to them yet today for an update? I keep getting engaged/no answer. - Grant
No
I have rang shirtpocket all day long from 9am this morning till 6pm and they are not answering.
My guess is they are deliberately ignoring the phone as they do not want customers cancelling orders.

I am very disturbed by this and am considering legal action against them. I shall continue to ring them all weekend, taking up my valuable time.
This has to be the worst company i have ever dealt with in 6 years of buying online.
The fact they are getting away with this is very worrying.
All I want now is my money back that they have taken from me and are making it very difficult, if not impossible, to get my money back after 2 months of total ignorance from them!

I'm fairly sure I shall be shopping elsewhere for my Zaurus very soon.....any recommendations ?
I would advise anyone else to steer well clear of these guys.

If i get through to them tomorrow, i shall be asking for my money back so i may order from Trisoft. I have bought from Trisoft before and their service was excellent. Someone on here said they got their C3000 from them in a few days, and that was over bank holiday weekend.

mid march?
I ordered mine from shirtpocket early February and am STILL waiting!
They said ring back today, and guess what... no answer *again*

This is a shambles... trisoft could have one to me in 3 days, and that is from Germany.
Why o why have i waited 2 MONTHS from these jokers.
The very least they could do is refund our money so we may buy from a decent shop and recieve our goods.
