C1000/3x00 Hardware / Im A Linux And Zaurus Newbie..

If you are interested in flashing new roms and not useing the harddrive space for them get a 3100. Im sure that there will still be lots of rom development for the 3000, but I think  the C1000/c3100 will have a longer, and an arguably more full development life.

Instructions for replacing the HDD, eh ?  How about ADDING one to the C1000 ?  Is the CF interface there ? I wouldn't mind installing a 512mb CF in there and just leaving it. I'll check it out...

The c1000 is missing alot of the internals of the c3000. Check out  this thread. There are lots of pics.

 There is another thread over here from a guy who exchanged his microdrive with a compact flash card.He seems to be very happy with the results.

AH HA!

That explains the tape in the earlier photos.

Those hinges aren't broken. You can see the tab sticking out of the dark patch that activates the screen closed switch. What's going on is that he's covered *all* the chrome on the Z with scotch tape, probably to protect it against scratches when he's monkeying with the motherboards. The tabs look broken because he's cut the tape around that area so it won't interfere with the switches. He's used 4 pieces of tape, 2 on each side, and the seam we were looking at earlier is where they're joined together. There is another piece going across the sharp logo, with the cut out around the screen switch.

 You are totally correct.I couldnt see that it was the spot without tape till I copied it and blew it up.

I wonder where the guy from that that first link got his zauri . I really hope that he wasnt the one who broke the plastic by the hinge with the SHARP tag on it.I could almost understand breaking one by mistake, but there is a chunk missing from both of them in the same spot (the left hand side of the sharp tag)!
