Hi all!

It looks like my Zaurus will start doing double duty as a robot controller pretty soon (especially since I stumbled across Jonathan's USB serial drivers so I can actually talk to the robot's MCU now)!

How very cool  I will have to play more with my zaurus soon, been used as silly PDA for way too long now

tried) ... the only reference I can find to this file through google that seems vaguely zaurus'y is http://www.paipai.org/~humorum/zaurus/modu...rs/media/video/ ... but I'm a little wary of trying it out as all the documentation for that website is in Japanese so I've got no idea if it's for a specific kernel or the like (and Bablefish doesn't seem to like it).

The module says it's for kernel_version=2.4.18-rmk7-pxa3-embedix, i will try to recompile a kernel with video/webcam support when i have some time this weekend.

Software / Kino2 0.4.3 Series Released
« on: September 11, 2005, 01:52:59 pm »
the previous version of kino2 with an older version of mplayer-bvdd workt perfectly on my C3k, but i upgraded just now to a newer mplayer and newest kino2 and the movies don't want to play fullscreen

which flags should i give to mplayer? i used to have -vm -fs and scale to screen on in kino2, but now it seems they are ignored.

unfortunately i forgot which version of mplayer i was using before, but could anyone tell me if they are able to play movies fullscreen with the mplayer-bvdd 1.1.5-1 (both with and without iwmmxt), kino2 0.4.3 and bvdd 0.4.0 on a C3k running sharp rom and tetsu's special K, and if so, how?

ps i was unable to fully downgrade to the older version of kino2, the about box says it's 0.4.2, but functionality like autosaving and loading of playlists still persisted.

regards,

To answer the question on how a successful connection is detected: I check /var/run/vpnc/pid for a vpnc process ID, then verify if a process with the given ID really exists.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=92550\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

well duh, of course i created the /var/run/vpnc/ dir the first time and not the second

you might want to add a check for it in your script

it works like a charm now, perfect, thanks for an excellent tool

If you've got some time and willing  to help with debugging viperinz:

1. Replace /usr/bin/viperinz-connect with this  debug version

2. sudo chmod a+rx /usr/bin/viperinz-connect

3. Try to connect again

4. Look for vpnc errors in /var/log/viperinz.log

5. Check if the config file in /var/run/vpnc/viperinz.conf looks sane

Thanks!
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=79492\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

1. haven't done that, the current one produces more than enough logging

2. idem

3. it worked already

4. no errors i recognize

5. looks sane to me

2 points of mention:

a. it worked one time, i was connected and viperinz said so, after that it connected the vpn alright, just didn't notice it anymore

b. how does viperinz know the connection with the pix succeeded? something with the detection must go wrong

Thank you, but I didn't miss that point, I know the OZ kernel en bootstrap image are in the NAND (the opie image is in de hdimage.tar.gz file on /dev/hda1 though), but, what you seem to miss is that there's a fallback linux install somewhere else that doesn't seem to be affected by OZ (and it shouldn't as far as I can tell).

I was just wondering if that emergency linux install uses the same kernel as the standard bootproces (it doesn't seem to be, because this one shows the Sharp boot image) and if it's true that this emergency linux install uses a different kernel, I was wondering if that kernel is used by the zero'ing proces or the standard kernel.

It's quite a normal question IMHO, I'm not afraid to flash the NAND, i've done it before, I'm just wondering about how the proces works.

To clarify, by zero'ing proces I mean starting holding the OK button -> Opt 3 -> Opt 1 -> Y, so a factory default reset. It uses a hdimage file on /dev/hda1 _and_ a kernel, i'm wondering which kernel.

The emergency linux install is reached by booting holding D+B, that one seems to boot from an entirely different kernel.

I can boot to the emergency prompt without a problem, I guess that's another
kernel than the one that boots the ROMs.

Does the zero'ing procedure use this special kernel or the ROM starting one?

yes, there is.  if you made a nand backup before flashing to OZ, then you can just do a nand restore.  See trisoft's site for the necessary downloads (if you don't already have your own nand backup) and instructions.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=78073\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I'm not sure the NAND is messed up, It looks more like the kernel and data
on the internal harddrive, although a backup for those is downloadable too,
so, I'll be alright *rummages around for CF card writer*

thanks

Is there an easy way to get back to the original Sharp Rom?
Booting with the OK key -> option 3 -> option 1 -> Yes does not work, I guess
it's because it tries to boot with the wrong kernel?

C1000/3x00 General discussions / C3000 Usb Serial

good question. in fact, i've used the Aircable zaurus bluetooth adapter

it works perfectly with the SL-C3K, i want to power the serial side of it with a battery pack though, because most routers don't have a ps/2 or usb port to get power from

i use it to dial-in with GPRS using my nokia 6310i, the bluetooth connectivity is a bit flakey (i developed a healthy hate towards nokia for this), but once the 2 bluetooth devices sync and connect I can sent AT commands and set up a PPP connection over GPRS
