Hardware Mods / Gut Transplant In A C1000
« on: March 29, 2008, 11:16:40 pm »
I'm looking at the possibility of removing the zaurus mainboard and replacing it with a CM-iGLX C-O-M and a 40 GB ipod drive. I'm not sure what display the C series has, I'm hoping it's compatible. I could run standard linux distros and full KDE easily with this setup. I also need built-in ethernet, USB Host, RC232, and most of all mini-pci for a ubiquity XR9. Anyway, having never pulled apart a C-series before, what am I going to be looking at as far as connecting the keyboard? Is is on a separate PCB? Standard serial interface? I'm also assuming I have room for a  68 x 58 x 8 mm board in there, if not I'll have to build a new case. Does it sound possible or am I way far out?

This C1000 is in excellent condition, I just want to sell it immediately. It comes with a min-a host cable, a mini mouse, 1 2gb sd card, 1 512mb sd card, a card reader, the sync cable, a Planex cf wifi card, all of the original manuals, the cd, and the original box. There is no catch, this is really cheap, I just need to sell it immediately.

Ill take it. How to proceed? I can paypal you tonight.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Pdaxrom For 5500?
« on: August 24, 2005, 03:40:19 pm »
What updater.sh should I use? there does not seem to be one on the download page? Miskinis, How did you install it?  I am sitting here trying to install pdaXrom on my 5600. But I am just a little more stupid than the rest of you because I can't figure it out. I downloaded zImage.SL-5500 (renamed to zImage) and initrd.bin, and tried to flash with the OZ GPE updater.sh. It flashes OK, but when I reset it and turn it on, the power led goes out, and then back on and that's it  I then tried the 6000 pdaXrom, with and with-out resizing and have the same problem. I do have a nand backup so I can restore. And what would likely need changing on the 6000 rom so it would install on a 5600 (Mine has the pxa255)? I bet I could learn how to do it with a few pointers. I would love to help this project!
BTW I am a 4 year debian luser!   WINDOWS FREE FOR FOUR YEARS!

Activate Me!
Seriously, I would like to help on GPE.
Just let me know what I can do.
I have used debian 2 years so I know a little about linux, switched to debian from RedHat becouse I like stability and CONTROL!

I would like to contribute a more XP like theme as soon as I can figure out how.
When I get  OZ online thru my linux box it will really help.

Also I bet I can port  some aps to OZ/GPE! And would love to write some documentation.

Email me at "lawrence at pastimes dot cc" and let me know how I can help.

General Discussion / What Do I Need To Develop Java Apps On A 5600?
« on: April 15, 2005, 04:04:04 pm »
I want to develop an app to program the Basic Stamp, (a very easy to use microcontroller from parallax .com) over RS232 and would like to do it in Java so it can run on just about any handeld. I would also like to develop it on my 5600 so I can do it whenever and wherever I want. Is there an easy to use gui toolkit that will run on the 5600? I am a newb to Java so please excuse my dumb questions!!! I only know Quick Basic, MS VBasic pretty well and C++ and fourth a little bit. So my main question, is this possible? or should I go with C++ with ZGCC?   I am looking at Thinlet and ThinG but I,m just a little bit lost?

Also, how do I associate filetypes to applications on the Z?

Any help appreciated!

BTW, I just got my Z on ebay for $224 and got luckey. It has the pxa255 proccesor
