... while I can import contacts, how will I be able to export them later, if I need to switch to another contact manager?I think you may try and use multisync + gpesyncd (I think) to try and get a copy of all contacts on another machine in whatever format supported by multisync plugins you like best.

with alpha1-2 and rc1 releases I see in the logs some quirks:
- mount: sysfs cannot be mounted
- gpe system info : df has problem reading ./dev/static
- ipaq-sleep :needs bl but then bl doesn't find /dev/touchscreen0
I think ipaq-sleep and bl need to be rebuilt.

The solution has been provided by the2nd on the bugtracker. It's a problem related to keylaunch. Basically you have to comment out every Fi keys in /etc/keylaunch.cfg. In fact there are only two lines, one with F4 and one with F11. Comment both out, and you're done !

I got the 3 files and named them correctly

opie->initrd.bin
updater.sh

Both Firefox AND Thunderbird was rebuilt and both are installable - just checked.
