C1000/3x00 General discussions / Screen Contrast Seems... Wrong
« on: May 08, 2005, 01:21:22 pm »
Hi, I bought an SL-C3000 a couple of days ago, and it's great.

However, when I look at the screen straight on the greys and whites look the same, and its often difficult to see certain lines etc. But when I look at it from an angle from the right hand side, the screen looks perfect with nice contrast.

It's starting to really annoy me, because It's a great screen providing I tilt my head, because otherwise things look too white.

Is this a common problem? could I have a dodgy screen (the screen seems fine, it's just the contrast)? Are there any apps that can adjust the screen contrast or perhaps a built in key combination like i missed (perhaps similar to the brightness control but for contrast)?

I compiled them on the Z, some take quite long to compile, but it just works.
I installed "make" and all needed libs.
Then it's just "./configure", "make", "make install" or "qmake", "make".
(or following instructions in readme files)

I don't remember where I downloaded all sources, just browse the www.

Awesome! I'll have to start trying out some of the apps I couldnt find in the repository. And I'll maybe learn how to create .deb packages and create a little repository of my own

The zaurus just keeps getting better and better.

X/Qt / Xmms And Mplayer In Debian
« on: May 08, 2005, 05:14:21 am »
Hi, I bought an SL-C3000 a couple of days ago (my first zaurus) and have since installed X/Qt and Debian. I have barely even touched Qtopia as having debian in my pocket is too much fun.

I installed XMMS and the mad plugin, but I can't seem to get it to play anything. It runs fine and looks as nice as ever, but when I try to add anything to the playlist (mp3s or a pls file) nothing shows up in the playlist... and as a consiquence doesn't play anything.

What do I need to do to get it to play?

Are there any alternative mp3/streaming radio players for debian?

If neither of the above are possible, what are my options for players in Qtopia that work with my SL-C3000 (that play shoutcast radio stations, specifically)?

And finally... is mplayer available for debian on the zaurus? If so where from and would it be usable? (and again, any alternatives elsewhere?)

Theres a few questions to be keeping you all busy, while I go and mess around with my SL-C3000 some more

Hi, I just bought an SL-C3000 and so far it's fantastic! (it's my first Zaurus )

I've mainly been playing around with X/Qt and Debian.

So far I've been running:

gaim (A little slow to start, but once logged in runs nicely)
nedit (Runs very fast and is a great text editor)
skite (Text entry lags a bit)
abiword (Text entry lags a lot )
dillo (Runs nice and quick and is great for most websites)
evolution (Takes a long time to load, but once loaded is just about usable)
and loads of others

Chero, you have some apps listed that dont seem to be in the debian repositories. Where did you find arm versions and how did you install them?
