Sharp ROMs / Flexis Fx100 On Wapaton?

Hey guys...

     I just recently installed the Wapaton 1.6.1 on my Zaurus 5600.  Seems pretty stable to me. I got the internet working and a couple of other programs. I got some questions on some applications.
  1) How do I get Flexis FX100 to work if possible?
  2) Is there anyway to install GAIM?
  3) Is there anyway to install snes9x

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Problems With Wireless Spectrum 24 On Poodle

Hey guys..

   I running OZ 3.5.3 with OPIE 1.2 (Hentges Rom) for my Poodle (5600).  Everything seems to work fine except when I insert the Spectrum 24 wireless CF Card. The light on the card blinks and the OS recognizes the card, but once I click on the "Network" icon, the system freezes and I have to pull the batter out in order to turn the PDA off.
Any ideas why the system freezes when I try to click on "Network?"

The Spectrum24 CF Card works fine on my collie (5500). Maybe something missing for the poodle?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Problem With Updating Kernel For Collie On 5500

Hey ...

    I just saw the fix for the 2.4.18 kernel for collie (Zaurus 5000/5500) into 3.5.3 so I downloaded it and flashed my 5500. Everything works fine until I boot up and it just sits there on "updating modules" for 15 minutes.  I thought I did something wrong so I downloaded the older version of the kernel (the one with problems on resuming and suspending, especially the right-arrow button) and it worked fine after I booted up.

Any ideas?

General Discussion / Where Can I Download Zaurus Original System Rom

Hi there,

    Can anyone direct me to a site where I can download the Sharp Zaurus 5500 original rom v. 2.38?  I went to www.myzaurus.com, but they only have rom updates. I currently have the OZ 3.5.3 and I want to flash back to the original Zaurus rom. Any one know where to get it?

     I'm running the OZ 3.5.3 with Opie 1.2.  Anyone got any advice if it is worth my money to purchase the CEAG06 Camera? How is the quality of the pictures? Please feel free to voice your opinions.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / About Using Opie-remote

Hi guys.

  Since I'm new to this, I'm not sure how to get opie-remote working correctly. First, when I open the Remote thru the commandline, it says "LearnTab::GetRemotes: No such file or directory ry 100 301 2" and then a box pops up saying "couldn't connect to socket." What does that mean? And why is it trying to do that? I click ok and I read the help file. How do I check if I need to install the lirc and lirc-modules? I running the 3.5.3 version Opie 1.2 on my Zaurus 5500 and didn't run into any problems when i installed the opie-remote from the feed.
Next, the help me says that I'm suppose to get the lircd.conf file from there website. I downloaded it as the lirc_conf-0.1.1.tar.gz and when I unzipped it, there was a whole bunch of .h and .c files.  So I don't know what to do from there. Any suggestions?

This 'fix' has been applied in the gpe-image for collie handhelds only - if you have problems resuming after suspend, try this:

-Remove the line containing /dev/apm_bios from /etc/device_table
-Reboot

If that doesn't fix things, I'm afraid I don't know. The problem, with collie at least, is a buggy apm implementation in the kernel - I will fix this as soon as I get a Zaurus serial cable (donations welcome!)

Ummm... I tried the removing thing and I don't recommend anyone do it without knowing what it actually does.  I tried it and all the keys became disabled. I have to reflash again.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / How To Copy Or Send Files On Opie Ftp To Sd Card

Hey guys..

    I'm running Opie-ftp and was able to connect to an ftp server, but the problem is downloading the files to the SD card. I don't see any features allowing me to download or copy specific files to a destination.  I tried the copy,cut, paste icons on the taskbar, but nothing happens. I don't know how they is used though.
Any ideas.

    Will opie 3.5.3 automatically read the sharp CE AG06 camera when inserted into the CF slot?  What are the applications built for it? It isn't the camera-support.ipk in the feed is it?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Keep Getting Could Not Locate Application

Hey guys..

     (Running OPIE 3.5.3 on Zaurus 5500)
     I realized after doing the "update list" and then installing applications only made things worse. For example, I'm using the AQPkg Package Manager and I tried installing OPIE Mail. I installed to ram because I had no more space on root.
The information level was set to informative messages and it said installation successful,  but when I click on OPIE mail I get "Could not locate application opiemail" (Actually I get this for many applications like OpieFtp) I then tried running opiemail on the command line and I get ": QuickLauncher invoked as: opiemail" and then it exits. Nothing happened.

Any ideas?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Getting Xmms To Work Completely

Okay guys..

  After days of playing around with my Zaurus 5500 installed with OPIE 3.5.3, this is how far I've gone.
1) Installed AQPkg Package Manager
2) Got my Spectrum24 wireless card working
3) Added machine feed in the configure in AQPkg manager
4) Did the "update list" (took forever, but got the list)
5) Installed xmms-embedded: along with its dependencies (manually):
                a) libstdc++6
                 libmad0
                c) libvorbisidec
                d) libglib-2
                e) libmikmod
                f) libd3tag0
                g) libsidplay1
(basically got oggs to play)

Well I don't know what to do after I update the list. Any advice on how to go about installing all that is needed to play video for xmms?
I think someone told me to install all the files in the "machine" feed.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Problems With Getting Konqueror

Hey guys..

    I searched the forum for getting web browsers to work on OPIE 3.5.3 and I ran into a problem different from other users.  Since I click on the icon, the program runs for a second on the task bar and then disappears.
So I tried running it on the command line. I just typed in Konqueror and i got this:

konqueror: error while loading shared libraries: libpcre.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

(Since I dont know much about this stuff, the first thing I tried was reinstalling it, but didn't work)

Any ideas?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Running Low On Space Problems

Hey guys.

I finally got all the needed files to get xmms to work on OPIE 3.5.3 for my Zaurus 5500.
The problem I'm having now is space. After installing Xmms, I have : 740kB left for the Internal Storage /dev/root
and 31000kB left for /media/ram.

Obviously, I try to install programs to the ram, but for some files I get messages like
"Error linking....."

Is there a way I can install all my programs to my cf card without installing them to root? The problem is the linking between the files i think. Sorry. I don't know much about these things.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Opie Freezes Once I Try To Restart

Hey guys.

    I'm using OPIE 3.5.3 on my Zaurus 5500.  When I reboot OPIE, it always freezes up and the mail light lights up green.  The only way I can power it off is by physically removing the battery.  Why does this happen?  
It doesn't happen when I shutdown. ONly when I try to reboot.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Symbol Wireless Compact Flash Card

Hey guys..

      I'm thinking about purchasing the Symbol Wireless Compact Flash 802.11b Card. I read in the descriptions that it support PDAs with Compact Flash Type I/II extended card slots.  Does that mean this Symbol card will fit into my Zaurus SL-5500 (supports only Type I CF slot) ?
