General Discussion / Bluetooth Tethering With Zaurus?

Has anyone set up their zaurus to dial out through a bluetooth phone to access the internet?  I did it with my pc and would really love to do it with my zaurus.

If you don't fancy fiddling with the config files and want a GUI to do it for you, try our Bluefig software here:
[a href=\"http://www.figlabs.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/54]http://www.figlabs.com/catalog/product_inf.../products_id/54[/url]

For a GPRS connection, your network will almost certainly be the bottleneck. For 3G, depending on how good your connection is, you may find that the Bluetooth link starts becoming the bottleneck - 30-40 Kbytes per second is about the limit, but still rather good for web surfing.

Hey, cool software.  Looks like the perfect thing I need.  Any way of an American buying it?  I don't see any option to switch or see the price in dollars.
[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
To see the prices in US dollars or Euros, there's a dropdown on the shop page, here (link to prices in US dollars):

How much will a bluetooh CF card cost nowadays?
[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
We've got a Pretec card for £55 or the Socket one that goes flush to the side of the device for £85.
Have a look on the shop page here: [a href=\"http://www.figlabs.com/catalog/shop.php]http://www.figlabs.com/catalog/shop.php[/url]

Software / Get Online Via 3g/gprs Phone
« on: October 03, 2006, 04:34:23 am »
Hi Adam,

For supported networks, see http://www.taniwha.org.uk/gprs.html as we use this list to work out the details.

For supported phones, in theory, any mobile which supports bluetooth and has a 'modem mode' (i.e. supports letting your laptop connect to the internet using it) will work. Pretty much all new Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola handsets work.

We have occasional trouble with the odd handset - e.g. I found my LG U880 on UK's Three network needed an extra tweak. Often if this is the case we can work out a solution interactively with the customer. Most of the time "it just works".

Hope that helps,

Sharp ROMs / Bluez Segfault - Cacko 1.23

does it just fail with the dun search or a all sdptool in general?

Just DUN, (thanks, you led me to the answer!!)...

http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message...msg_id=11057683

Bingo!

The phone is returning something non standard _only_ when you look for the dial up networking profile. There is a patch (http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.p...5&forum_id=1881)  to fix this particular problem in bluez - I wonder if Anton or Tumnus would consider building it in?

The only thing I can suggest is maybe rebooting both zaurus and phone.
Yup, tried that one - no joy. The same device had Cacko, didn't work, got rebooted many times. Went to OZ - worked ok. Went back to Cacko - still not working.

I have a C1000 with the same setup, different phone and it's all working lovely. I can't see any different between the two setups.

Anyone else seen something like this?

Code: [Select]
$ sdptool search DUN
Inquiring ...
Searching for DUN on XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX ...
Service Name: Dial-up networking
Service RecHandle: 0x10002
Service Class ID List:
 Â "Dialup Networking" (0x00001103)
Protocol Descriptor List:
 Â "L2CAP" (0x00000100)
 Â "RFCOMM" (0x00000003)
 Â   Channel: 4
Segmentation fault
$

This works on just about every other machine / rom combination. This is an SL-C3200 using a Socket Rev K BT card talking to a Samsung phone. Using OZ all the kit works fine.

Any ideas? I'm stumped!

Software / Free Sudoku - Now All Zaurus And Archos Supported
« on: July 28, 2006, 06:17:30 am »
Well, OK, the whole purpose of me working on the package was to make life easier for those who wanted to use the source - by adding comments, documentation etc. It seems there is little incentive for us to do that so, instead, here is the original source used to build the app.

You could port Zudoku if FigLabs would stop violating the GNU Public License ...
[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
Mickey,

Fig Labs has no intention of violating the GPL.  I posted on our internal forum that we intended to release the source on sourceforge "when I get a spare couple of days" and that is what we will do. Unfortunately the pressures of a full time job and running Fig Labs at the same time means spare days are very hard to come by    .

A couple of weeks ago I registered Zudoku on Sourceforge - here: [a href=\"http://sourceforge.net/projects/zudoku]http://sourceforge.net/projects/zudoku[/url]. I hope to get time to clean the source, make sure it builds on all platforms, provide documentation and instructions, create a mini site and upload it to SF some time in the next month.

Sorry it's taken so long, but please be patient.

Cheers,

Rob

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Planex Wifi Cf Update

So do you mean that there's no solution for the moment?     the planex is more powerful than the buffalo.
I don't know of any solution. I guess your options are:

1) Report this as a Cacko bug and / or see if Mr Maslovsky knows of a workaround at Cacko page. I'd guess the fix probably isn't very complicated.

2) Switch to Sharp Rom

I agree it's a shame - the Planex has the best range of any card I've tried.

Cheers

When i plug my card, it works well for the first time, but when i closed the connection, the card does not restart automatically, i'm obliged to remove it and replugs. And my planex freeze my screen for 1 second just after the card is plug. I didn't have this problem with a Buffalo card
I have Cacko 1.23
I've tried this on C3000 Sharp ROM (Fig Labs conversion) and C1000 with Cacko 1.23.

I get the same as you on Cacko (except the bit about screen freeze). On Sharp ROM it works fine -can disconnect and reconnect again. So it looks like that might be a Cacko bug relating to Prism 3 cards.

What I do see with this card is if you pull the card out while connected the whole device locks up and you have to take the battery out - I guess that is a bug in the Prism 3 driver.

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Planex Wifi Cf Update
« on: March 13, 2006, 07:18:41 am »
Hi,

The update you found is to add the Planex driver to the C3000 or C1000. The driver is already built into the SL-C3100 and SL-C3200 so you don't need to add it. There is no update as far as I am aware. What problems are you having?

Cheers

hi, thanks for the link, does this software support hungarian gprs providers too?  (i'm sure my phone is supported but hungary...?)

Looking in our settings database, we have entries for PannonGSM, T-Mobile and Vodafone in Hungary. I can't say that I've been to Hungary to test it (more's the pity) but we'll do all we can to get customers up and running in areas we haven't worked in, or with phones we've not yet tried.

Thanks,
