search for lcd com and phase adjust in the dm menu, thats probably where your problem lies
[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Thanks bam. That worked.
I had to do some searching because I didn't know what was the "dm menu".
There are lots of details about this issue in the following thread for the pdaxrom.

[a href=\"https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=8541]https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=8541[/url]

I am guessing that if now I want to go back to the pdaxrom I will have to tune this again!
For the record, my settings are now: lcd com: 119 (changed from 114); phase adjust: 0 (changed from +5).

Sharp ROMs / Cacko 1.23: Strange Rendering Problem
« on: May 28, 2006, 04:29:20 pm »
I have also tried the standard (non-lite) ROM with the same effects.
Now, I am using the OZ rom and the effect is gone. The screen is working normally.
So, it is clearly a problem with Cacko....

Let me know if anyone knows a fix for this, I really like the stability of the ROM otherwise.

Thanks.

Sharp ROMs / Cacko 1.23: Strange Rendering Problem
« on: May 28, 2006, 12:21:00 pm »
Hi,

I have just installed the cacko ROM version 1.23 lite on my SL-C860.
The full version number is ROM 1.23 1539311005.
The linux kernel is: 2.4.18-rmk7-pxa3-emb

The ROM works great almost everything works out of the box without trouble.
However, the screen rendering has a problem.

It seems like every 3rd or 4th horizontal line is displaced vertically by 20 lines down.
The effect looks has if there is a soft shadow just below the main image.
First I noticed this in the splash screen and it looks like as if there is some fancy shadowing effect of the fonts (which even looks cool). Unfortunately this is happening during real operation of the PDA (not only on the "cool" splash screen).
The effect happens mostly on the top and bottom of the screen.

I am suprised about it since I would imagine that if this was a common problem it would have been reported and fixed long ago.
However, I was just running the pdaxrom and I didn't have any such problem so I don't think it is my own hardware either. The same holds for the original Sharp ROM which I used long ago.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Joao

Hello,

Any progress with a driver for a 2Gb card?
I have the c860 and a 2Gb card I would be happy to help debug, as long as I am told what to do.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Fast Sd Cards
« on: January 06, 2006, 11:50:42 pm »
David, pgas,

Thanks for your replies.
It seems like it is worth going for a middle speed card (x44)  but not the fastest one on the market.
I'll do that. The price difference is considerable.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Fast Sd Cards
« on: January 04, 2006, 02:06:32 am »
Hi,

I am going to upgrade my 256MB SD card to a 1GB SD card.
I am wondering if the Zaurus will be able to take advantage of the faster cards currently in the market.
Since these cards are tipically a factor of 2 more expensive I would only buy them if there is indeed an actual speed improvement with the Zaurus.

Could you please let me know your experiences with using fast SD cards with the Zaurus? I am most interested in the 1GB cards, but smaller cards info is also welcome.
Which cards are you using, and have you noticed a performance improvement relative to slower cards?

My zaurus is the c860.

Thanks.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Bluetooth Gprs Connection To Usa T-mobile
« on: November 08, 2005, 02:42:32 am »
I forgot to mention my phone.
It is a Motorola V600.

I can make a connection, I get an IP address and DNS.
However, I cannot access anything in the web. I believe I need to make some settings specifics for the wireless provided (in this case t-mobile).

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Time Sync Ntp And Rc12

OK, so I am still having trouble.
I tried the tricks on this forum with sethwclock and sltime but it is not working.
I think the problem is that my hardware clock is not in UTC.
However, I don't see how I can change it since hwclock is not available anymore.

Is there a way of setting the hardware clock to UTC with sethwclock? I can't find any documentation on this binary.
Also, what does "sltime" do?

Thanks.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Bluetooth Gprs Connection To Usa T-mobile

Hi,

Did anyone managed to connect to T-Mobile GPRS network using their Zaurus?
Are there any connection strings we need to use?
I have tried using pppd connection through bluetooth. I have been able to call #99* but then nothing happens.
I am guessing I need to initialize the modem  or something special for the T-Mobile GPRS.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Time Sync Ntp And Rc12

Some more progress, after my last freeze and hard reboot, ntpd is now running.
I rebooted with the network card plugged in. Does ntpd need network to be started?

The clock is now running with Chicago time. Will see how accurate it will be later.

Another question:
I do not have the hwclock command! Which package has that?

BTW,
There is some information about this in:
https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showt...228&#entry35228

However, Laze says this problems will be fixed in the next release. That is why I was wondering if there is any fix in place besides ntp.

Thanks,
Joao

I fixed the timezone with (found in another thread)
ln -s /usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Chicago /etc/localtime

After that, when I tried to use ntpdate 0.pool.ntp.org, the screen went black (I believe it went into suspend) and the the zaurus end up freezing.
That's the second time in 5 minutes!

What Zaurus model do you have? On my C1K clock is accurate - the time doesn't get off more than a couple of seconds a week. I don't run ntpd, but use ntpdate sometimes.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=102582\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I forgot to say that my Zaurus is the C860.
I have never been able to keep the time accurate with the pdaxrom (since rc 10).
It is really annoying with PIM applications.

I am not sure about the second part of your email. I do not have /etc/localtime and I don't know where to link it to!

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Time Sync Ntp And Rc12
« on: November 06, 2005, 01:04:55 pm »
Hi,

The zaurus time gets late when it goes to sleep. I believe this is a known problem, although I thought I had seen some posts saying that it was (or it would be) fixed.

One way of keeping the time in sync  is to use ntp. This is not a perfect solution because I am not always connected to the internet, however it is better than nothing.

Out of the box, rc12 comes with a time setting tool, which allows to define ntp servers, however there is no ntp daemon running by default.
I have installed ntpd and ntpdate from the feed .
After a reboot, I still didn't get ntpd running.
When using ntpdate with one of the default servers:
ntpdate 0.pool.ntp.org
the time gets changed to 18:00, it is now 12:00. So, I guess it is using UTC.

Can someone help me with this?
1) Is there any known fix to get correct time without ntp?
2) How to setup ntp to work properly? BTW, the "time and date setting" tool does not have any facility to define if we use UTC time or not, or to turn ON/OFF ntp. That would be nice.

Thanks,
Joao

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Rc12? Which Rom To Use For Update?
« on: October 23, 2005, 11:03:23 am »
Hi,

I am running rc10 and looking to upgrade.
I see references to a rom version RC12, but I can only find rc11 for download.
Which one is the newest ROM for the Zaurus 860? If this is not the rc12, what is that version for?

Thanks.
