What are you guys using? I would be really happy to have access to maps.google.com :) (It should work in Minimo IIRC)

I use elinks and lynx(with qiv for images) heavily, minimo[0] sometimes.

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Where To Get A Power Adapter
« on: February 02, 2006, 07:36:10 pm »
Good day!

Hello everyone.

I am in the Philippines
<SNIP>
Is there some place I can buy just the adapter?
[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

The most readily available is the Sony PSP power supply, and/or those Dell Axim/HP IPAQ's.
More here[0].  Do note that power adapters with adjustable voltage out runs hot so stay
away from them.  On the office I charge using the USB->PSP Power cable on a powered hub
and use the original zaurus at home.

OpenBSD / Any Hardcore Openbsd Folks That Can Answer This?

Hi,

<SNIP>
During that time I have actually compiled the whole of Gnome from the ports archive. The last time it actually ran but all the applets died and scrollkeeper still kept dieying with a segment violation.
[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
You *are* a very patient man. ;)

Quote
<SNIP>
Please can someone tell me is the problem related to lazy casting in Gnome/Scrollkeeper (I know that arm treats unspecified signed types differently on different architectures) or is the problem more fundamental and related to immaturity of ARM support in GCC etc.
<SNIP>
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=110851\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
First off, use the latest arm packages[0], there already is a large part of gnome precompiled
(it even has minimo!). Then compile the scrollkeeper port.

        - automatic performance adjustment though apm[0]
        - lower speed for apm 91hz[1]
        - sleep-on-lid close[2]
        - better time keeping after suspend[3]
        - add driver for sharp remote control[4]
        - scaling of cpu max speed[5]

        Being worked on.[6]

        - usb client
        - sd/sdio support
        - cf xga support

        For additional info see

        daily changelog[7], openbsd source changes[8] and openbsd journal[9].

Very often when I put my Zaurus to sleep (with zzz) the clock appears to stop.

<SNIP>

Fixed in -current and snapshots, logs here[0] and here[1].

I've also noticed that the battery has a habit of suddenly being completely drained -
is this a known issue, or do I just have a bad battery?

Also experienced by devs, theyre hunting it down. Not sure if this is the same issue though.
Mine works fine.

0% and 100%, 100 is full on, 0 is barely useable i find. (this is with the snapshot released yesterday)
<SNIP>
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=101208\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Yap, i *think* display.backlight should have been a toggle switch.

Quote
i think i'll end up trying a key-binding in X somewhere for one display.brightness+=20% (that's the increment), and one display.brightness-=20%
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=101208\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
Rayto, depends on your window manager and/or keybinding daemon, should be easy though.

OpenBSD / Console Font?

The title & description say it all really.. I've been using my z in console mode more than anything, and I'm wondering if there's some way to make the font size bigger without hacking any source code ?
[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
Poke around wsconscfg[0]? <big fat warning>I have *not* personally tested this.</big fat warning>.
Quote
haha I guess if I need to I'll run xterms but the console so far has been my friend :)
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=101172\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
Yes, and if you are running a newish snapshot., marvel at the greatly accelerated x.

Good day!

Have you tried the latest snapshot?

You don't have to reinstall the whole thing,  download and install openbsd38_arm.ipk
and click on the "install OpenBSD" icon.  This will boot bsd.rd, from there, drop to console
and try to configure your wi card.

<SNIP>

i believe it's a prism 2.5/3 card, works ok (ish) with default sharp rom.
However i don't see it on the hardware support list in INSTALL.zaurus, so was
wondering if anyone had used it successfully? If not, could someone reccomend a
good CF wi-fi card, and somewhere to obtain it (preferable in the uk, either a
shop in london or a website). I'd prefer WPA support and preferably the option
of using it with hostap.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=98575\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

One quick way to verify this is to boot bsd.rd, install openbsd38_arm.ipk and
click on install OpenBSD icon.  This will load the bsd kernel and you can
verify if your wireless card is detected. (ifconfig wi).  There is no WPA support in
OpenBSD.  Hostap is supported in wi.

Althought i'm mainly to be using the Z as a workstation (openbsds massive
network/crypto support would be very handy here). I also currently use it to
play music while my mp3player is out of commission, and turn the screen off for
that purpose to save battery.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=98575\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I use cplay+madplay+tremor-tools audio playing.  There is also XMMS on the
ports tree.

Quote
is DPMS or another method of turning off the lcd supported under the current
drivers? and does the sound driver work well enough to play music?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=98575\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
Yes.  Closing the lid, turns off the LCD.

Quote
How hard is editing keymaps (not just under X) i'd need to add an alt button,
support for the £ sign, and for the braces ({}) being as the z keyboard
distinctly lacks all of these.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=98575\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
xmodmap?
Quote
Finally, do the app-launch buttons along the side of the screen work? (i don't
use them much, but it would be nice to know).
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=98575\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
Are these the soft keys, No.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

OpenBSD / Openbsd For C1000?
« on: October 07, 2005, 08:39:39 pm »
Good day!

Quote
Hello,

Is space the issue with the C1000?  Will you have to cut down the operating system to get it to fit?

Louis
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=98557\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I suggest you use a largish (1gb) CF or MicroDrive.  After more experience (install
and/or configuration) you can then customize you installation the some bytes.

OpenBSD / Strange Problem With Boot
« on: September 25, 2005, 08:59:15 am »
Good Day!

Quote
I've just installed OpenBSD on my SL-C3000 and tried to boot it.
And zboot says me "loaded 2894717 bytes" and system halts. What could it be?

And i'm using latest OpenBSD snapshot (09/22/05).
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=96948\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Please provide more info.

A.) How did you install the boot loader(zboot, bsdmod.o, etc)?  Did you install
through .ipk or manuall copied it?

B.) How did you partition your disk?  Please provide dmesg, fdisk and disklabel
output.

There are previous posts and threads here regarding getting those info.

I think you have a corrupted boot loader, kernel and/or improperly partitioned
disk, but need additional info to diagnose and provide relevant solutions.
