5x00 Hardware / 5500 Won't Read Cf Card

Get yourself a USB reader, or a Notebook and PCMCIA adaptor, and test the card.
Also, try formatting it in a camera. . . Apparently that should work according to tomeone who rescued theirs that way. But first, try the card on a PC. If you can write files, then read them again after unplugging, replugging, it's not the card. . . Maybe they're just not compatible? My Kingston 256 works though. . .

The card works fine in my laptop, so unless the Zaurus is particular about this card, I would think it should work there also.

Help!

I have a Kingston 1024 MB CF memory card. When I insert it in my 5500, I get the icon (white, unlike the blue icon for my SD card) at the bottom of the screen, but the Zaurus won't read the card. I've tried to format it as FAT and FAT 32, but neither works. I've tried to mount it:

mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/cf

I receive a "failed" message. My Symbol CF wireless network card works in the slot, so it's not the slot. Is it me? Am I doing something foolish here?

I'm running the Sharp 3.10 ROM.

Pardon my ignorance, but I'm guessing that means it is already sold?

If so, thanks.

Have you sold it yet?

For Sale / Wanted / Decided To Sell The Zaurus Sl5500
« on: June 08, 2005, 02:24:25 pm »
I'm a newbie who is Zaurus-less. My (current) main goal in life is to have a device which will tie into my wireless network at home and my SBC DSL line, surf the web, and send and receive e-mail. I am assuming that a SL-5500 will do all that.

Should I stick with my Mac and PC? I have messed with Redhat, and a few other distros on PC's, but I'm still a Linux newbie.

So, did you sell it? And, just what is a 5500 worth?

Thanks.
