Zaurus - pdaXrom / Latest Konq Embedded And Minimo Please
« on: July 12, 2007, 06:21:44 am »
There was a new version of Konq/e released a few days ago.  It is built based on Qtopia2, so I don't know if that makes it suitable for pdaXrom or Sharp roms.

http://www.basyskom.de/index.pl/konqe

If someone could build it for either rom, I think it would be an interesting package.

kkazakov, have you taken down the e17 packages?  The directory you linked to in your first post doesn't seem to exist any more...

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Want Compiled Thread?

I'll give it a shot, but it will be with a 2.6 kernel. Is that OK, or should I not bother?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=155025\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
IF you can do it with the 2.6 kernel, that would be great.  I am using beta3 right now, but everytime something interesting gets compiled for 2.6 I think about trying it again.

Thanks,
Andrew

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Want Compiled Thread?

Hi, if someone would be willing to take a crack at compiling Zoom Interpreter I think it would be neat on the Zaurus.  I know frotz is available, and it works really well but doesn't run V6 (graphical) games.  Also, Zoom looks like it has nice font rendering which may or may now work on the Zaurus.

I tried compiling on the Zaurus but kept running out of memory even with a swapfile setup.  If someone has a huge swap or cross-compiles, it looks like a pretty staight forward build.

Thanks,
Andrew

Zaurus - pdaXrom / What Packcges Are In Zgcc-x.x.x.img?
« on: September 26, 2006, 03:11:05 pm »
From memory:

gcc-headers
gcc
binutils
distcc
make
automake
autoconf

I think that's it, but I might be missing something.  That's what has worked for me.

Tested on SL-C3200 works fine, no problems so far, the installation a bit tricky and i had to do it manualy. great to have on sl-c3200

How did you go about installing it manually?  I can get to the point where I flash the new emergency system, but then on reboot there is no activity or charging light.

i forgot the following:

in xinitrc.xfce4 add the following line:

rox --pinboard=(the name you put in before... i.e. MYPINBOARD)

[/b]

this makes the pinboard appear after a reboot automatically. but it is important to type in the same name as before else you will get again this blank desktop with the home folder.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=96873\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Where should this be put in the xinitrc.xfce4?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=141452\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

If I recall correctly, you can put it on the line after you call xfce4-session, but you can also put it in the Autostart Applications.  I think doing it the latter way might load it a bit slower.

What is your TERM variable set to?  Probably xterm.  Run this command in aterm:

Code: [Select]
set|grep -i term
And see what the output it.  Then run the command in rxvt.  If the result is different in rxvt, run this command in aterm:

Code: [Select]
TERM=
Where <value> is whatever result rxvt returned.  I usually launch aterm with:

Code: [Select]
aterm -tn linux
Which sets this variable to "linux" which seems to work for most things.  I have just run into a problem with vim, however, where it doesn't function at all, and I have to revert to a value of "xterm".

Of course, there is always a chance that this has nothing to do with your problem...

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Increase Gui Contrast

If you are still looking for a nice visual theme, I have compiled the Clearlooks engine for pdaXrom.  Included with the ipk are four themes, and all the blue ones have good visibility, IMO.

https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showt...4&hl=clearlooks

Check the link above for the ipk.  Other themes based on the Clearlooks engine can easily be installed and used by extracting them to the /usr/share/themes directory and using switch2 to apply them.

Hope this helps!

Orage works as well, but you need to restart xfce in order to get it to start up.  I don't know if the same symlink applies that does to thunar - I already had it in my system at this point.  I can take it out and test it if that would be helpful.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Wellenreiter & Aircrack Ported To Pdaxrom

It took me a long time to find, but this is the feed you want:

http://zaurus.spy.org/feeds/cacko/pdaXrom/unstable/

It seems to be a mirror of that old site which is no longer available.  Wellenreiter works great now that this library is installed!

The old version of Thunar does work, but it expects libxfce4util.so.2, which doesn't seem to exist in the new beta.  I create a link for this file from the existing libxfce4util.so, which seems to have worked fine.  I will test out orage too, even though I have never used it before.  It sounds interesting.

Thanks Chero.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Suspend When Closing Display

Hmm. Just tried that tweak. Nothing happened. Screen doesn't go off when closed (w/ and w/o AC supply). Any hint?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=140292\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Different result here:

Without the tweak, screen goes off when closed and on again when opened (instantly! No delay when opening, so it is not obvious that the screen was off when you open it).

With the tweak, the Z really suspends when I close it.
However, when I open it and press On/Off or any other key, nothing happens.
I cannot turn it on anymore.
Also a connected USB hub doesn't show light on its LED, so the Z is really still off, not only its screen.

Any hint?

When I close the Zaurus, it takes a few seconds (~10) to fully suspend.  If I wait for this to fully happen before turning the power on, it generally works without problems.  If I try interrupting this, it is very hard to actaully get to turn on (although I have had it happen once after trying several cycle of on/off).  Try waiting for the full suspend before powering up.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Suspend When Closing Display
« on: August 30, 2006, 03:54:52 pm »
Okay, I figured out the suspend when closed part.  Edit /etc/sysconfig/clamshell/closed.d/100x11scr (on my C1000) and change the line AFTER

Code: [Select]
closed() { (line 13 on my C1000)

to

Code: [Select]
/usr/bin/apm -s
This worked for me, and I haven't had any problems yet (although I haven't tested it yet.

Let me know if it works for you.  Also, if anybody knows how to disable suspend on network connect, let me know.

Thanks.
