Rom are very huge...
Compressed they take about 250-300MB...

Just rip CD to iso. Look for "cdread" in this thread.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Beta121 Strikes Back

Hi, all. Hi sashz and laze. I just tried new beta with sl-c860. My previous pdaXrom was beta4, then I moved to oz/opie and yesterday moved back to pdaXrom.
At first sigth -- light speed comparing to oz/opie. I mean -- LIGHT SPEED.
At second -- mamma mia. We have a lot of old annoing problems:

1. Very (_very_!) often zaurus won't switch on. I press "On" and nothing happens. I need to wait several minutes to be able to switch on Zaurus.

2. Old good bug with different DPI in different orientation. This bug was fixed sometime ago and here we have it again. I wonder, why you, sashz, do nothing with it -- this is a FIRST what user see after fresh installation -- a big unscrollable font in the menu

3. It seems, like Zaurus do not switch off (ok, do not suspend) sometimes on "Off" -- in suspend mode battery drains with a light speed and, if you have connected AC cable, battery is not charged (even if it stay connected for a night!).

Sashz, Laze, I think, this is a time when you should stop with adding/refreshing software in the feed. Do not do it. Focus on the base system -- users need polished X11, kernel, drivers and so on. Leave xchat, gnumeric and firefox to entuthiasts.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Battery Life

Seems like OZ drains my battery. Primarly I use Z to read books. While I was under pdaXrom, I can read 3-4 days and battery was still on ~70-80% (1-1.5h per day).
Now, 1-2 days, and 50% battery off!

ps: top doesn't show "idle" process, so it seems like nobody issue "idle" to CPU in OZ...

Ok, need to replace bt950_cs to serial_cs inside /etc/pcmcia/bluetooth.conf for Billinton.

I have Billionton CF BT, which successfully worked under pdaXrom (beta1), Cacko and previous OZ releases.
3.5.4.1 recognizes the card (according to applet) but doesn't load the required module. There is no hci0 device created and no any BT function works.

1. Hmm, no way to install additional locales. It depends on "virtual-locale-ru.ru" and "virtual-locale-locale.alias".
2. cardapplet don't show mounted sd-card
3. a whole sd-card (/dev/mmcblk0) is mounted to /media/mmcblk0 instead of first partition (/dev/mmcblk0p1).

It looks like some NAND addresses are overlapping with this version of u-boot, thus NO D+M!

Quick RESCUE if you want go back and restore a NAND image of the Zaurus (pre u-boot status):
1) put a copy of SYSTC860.DBK (for the 860) on the CF/SD
....

I think, that I have tried everything, what was discussed in this topic, but my zaurus (corgi) doesn't wake up after an updating crash to beta4 : (

he is still flashing his led, after I try to make some first aid : (
why is he blinking???
only because of an cf error??
but he is also blinking without cf or sd - only battery or dc!?!
what can I do?? I can not start a kernel with "OK" and also no "D" and "M" possiblity!!

Don't panic. Do you have a towel?
Ok, after erasing NAND, your zaurus will always blink the LEDs until you load it with ROM.
To revive the pet, format card, put SYSTC860.DBK on it, insert card into zaurus, go to D+M menu, choose Test ComapctFlash (or similar, do not remeber the exact item). If it pass correctly, try to Restore NAND.

Ugh, now I can't get into the NAND menu.

Suspend
Flip battery switch toward back
Hold down D+M
Flip battery witch toward front
Nothing.

Try to use cord, not battery. This works for me.

Funny keymap in this beta4. After startx/exit, the following keys doesn't work "a", UP.
Jog "right" works as "tab".

Also, after power off I can't power on   . Black screen. Hmm.

OK, i inserted the card with the kernels and rescued the Z.

Now I can confirm u-boot on SL-C860, though the D+C flashing way not yet working (MODEL ID mismatch somewhere?).

Do not use D+C method. Use usual way to reflash -- Power+OK, 4, SD|CF, Y.

Hi everyone!

I wonde if there is any applet for pdaxrom like the power saving applet for cacko rom?!

No applet, just "Overclock" application which can also underclock. Look in the "System" menu.
