Accessories / Usb Foldable Keyboard

Hmm.  Either I got a bad keyboard, bad cable or there's a difference between the 3100 and the 3000.  I'll dig up another USB keyboard and try again.  Thanks.

I have a 3000 and a Fellowes stowaway. Works fine, except for the layout (which should be solvable with keyhelper) and the Capslock/Numlock lights don't seem to work. You might have a bum unit.

Accessories / Solar Power For Z

All solar power devices I found here around have 6V output but Z needs 5V.
Did anyone tried feed 6V to the Z? Is it dangerous?

You might try the solar powered lights from Everlite:  [a href=\"http://www.newlite.com/]http://www.newlite.com/[/url]

They have a 5V adapter that allows you to charge your Z (or other 5VDC thingie) from the battery
of the lamp, said battery being chargable with a solar panel. Pretty groovy.

Off topic, but what kind of CF wifi card are you using, and what ROM are you running if you don't mind me asking? Did you have to install drivers or tweak the kernel in any way?

D-Link DCF-660W, with Sharp Rom. No extra drivers or tweaking needed, it just works.    I ordered it from conics.net along with the Z.

I bought two of these are Target for $5.99 each and added velcro to one and snaps to the other. I posted them in another thread but here they are again....They are actually intended to be used for index cards.

Perfect! Got one today. They also have a matching wallet that's just right for holding my CF wifi card and  USB cables. Thanks!

2°) You can play ogg files with Mplayer but I think you have to launch it in console mode  not really comfortable.

Works ok with zplayer. Installed the implayer pkg from here:

and followed the link to get zplayer also. Looks like it's all set for playing .mp3 and .ogg files.

I've been able to plug my Z into my Verizon phone (Samsung a650) with a USB cable and get on the net that way. It took a bit of setup (have to mknod the tty devices for the acm kernel module, and give pppd and chat the right incantations). I will document this sometime in the next two weeks or so, just don't have time right now.

Main caveat is that NetFront is trying to be to smart, doesn't see that the network is up via ppp and keeps asking if I want to bring it up...I have to use a fake wi-fi connection to shut it up. Annoying.  But I can ssh out, which was my main goal. (I got my Z with the hopes of being able to do this.)

Hi folks. Just got my C3000, would like to start doing some development and wanted to see how others are proceeding.

It looks like there are two possibilites: Openembedded, and the zgcc packages.

I honestly can't make heads or tails of the docs in the wiki at http://oe.handhelds.org. It's not even clear to me if the C3000 with the Sharp ROM is supported, or if it makes sense to go down that road for other than full OE builds - which isn't, at the moment, my goal. I just want to build a modified version of jumpx (double the size for the higher resolution of the C3000).

I've tried installing the zgcc packages right to my Z, but am having some trouble with include paths. That may just be because of something in the package I'm trying to recompile though. I don't know anything about Qt development or tmake (I've mostly been a GTK guy until now) so maybe I just have to bang my head against that for a while.

How are you folks compiling stuff for the C3000?

The music player seems to use a plugin architecture. /opt/QtPalmtop/plugins/music has libslwmaplugin.so which I'm guessing allows for the WMA playback, seems like it should be possible to create a "libsloggplugin.so" but I don't see one anywhere.

Guess I'll have to install XMMS, which I wouldn't mind except that I bought the headphones with the remote control and I undetstand they only work with the Sharp music player...grrrr...

Kind of a strange question, but does anyone know of a good SL-C3000 case that is *not* made of leather? Querent is vegan and tries to avoid the use of animal hides. (Flames to /dev/null, honest inquries about veganism welcome by e-mail, not here.   ) Thanks for any pointers.
