Zaurus - pdaXrom / Has Anyone Bought This Book?

This appears to be a book about pdaXrom. Has anyone bought it and does it have any useful info?

I didn't buy it but had some look at it at a bookshop, and it turned out to be merely a list of FAQs or HOW-TOs you can easily find on the net.  The active readers of this forum shouldn't need it, unless you are keen on learning Japanese language :-)

thanks for compiling the latest uim!  i couldn't cross compile it myself and almost began to forget it

just for (perhaps only my) interest, did you build it with cross sdk? if so, i believe you encountered rpl-realloc error, just as i did (see my post in this forum,) and i'd appreciate it very much if you kindly tell me how you fixed it.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Cross Compiling The Latest Uim--need For Help
« on: January 15, 2006, 05:46:47 pm »
hi,

i've been trying for days to cross compile the latest uim (version 1.0.1) for my japanese input method.  ./configure goes without comlaint, but when i perform make, the process stops with an error compaining "no reference to rpl-realloc."  the cross-sdk version i use is 3.4.5.

i already succeed in entering japanese with scim-anthy i built myself, so the simplest solution would be to throw away the uim :-), but the thing is that i think i saw this rpl-realloc error for other softwares i tried in vain to cross compile.  i think there must be someone around here in this forum who experienced the same error and reached to an answer.  any suggestion will be welcome

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Japanese Support
« on: November 11, 2005, 03:03:08 am »
As far as I know there is no handwritting recognition software for Japanese on pdaxrom.  And there is no official support for Japanese input, though some input methods like uim could work on RC12 (at least uim does work on RC10.)  Of course some configuration will be involved, instruction of which you may only find in Japanese sites.

good luck,

I recently ordered a c3100 that I am planning on using "mainly" as a Japanese study tool (The dictionaries that are included with it are great, and the Japanese Handwriting recognition is a MUST.  Additionally, I am planning on writing a really good "flash card" tool).

I am wondering whether or not I would be able to keep those things if I go ahead and flash to the pdaXrom ROM?  If I did flash to that, would I be able to reinstall the Japanese handwriting support and the dictionaries/dictionary viewer (I am assuming they are on the included Sharp CDs?

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Zaurus - pdaXrom / We Are Not Dead!

hello laze.  thanks for all your good work!

just for my (and perhaps for all the CFU1 holders') hope, it could be tremendously a good idea to re-compile a CFU1 driver completely from source files (i'd try it myself if i had a crosscompiling environment.)  the one distributed at the web site (http://paipai.org/~humorum/pukiwiki/) doesnt work well on pdaxrom and causes some problems like segfaults depending on the usb devices used.  perhaps we will have to wait till you decide to move to 2.6.x kernel, where CFU1 seems to be supported natively?

for me with CFU1 working on pdaxrom there'll be little reason to go back to the original sharp rom.
