Software / Can't Find Addressbook File

You are correct, I do have a 3.10 Sharp ROM.
I am running the Macsync, but it will only allow me to transfer back and forth, not really a "sync" solution.  I ahven't been able to find anything that will allow me to sync properly with my Mac.

I will check further into the KDEpim programs and see if that saves the day.

Ran that entry as root and it dropped me back to # with no return.
Maybe I did something wrong?

Woops!  Typed it in again, this time without the space between "/" & "-name" and got a return of "no such file or directory".
Now, my addressbook is slap full of contacts, so something's gotta be there.

Greetings.

I have a Mac, so i don't have a sync function.
I need to get my addressbook info off the SL-5500 Sharp Addressbook into some other format I can use on my computer.
In some recent reading it appears there is supposed to be an "addressbook.xml" file on the system, but try as I might, I can't find the bloody thing.  

Can someone direct me to where it might be?

I had the same trouble trying to make wallpaper for my 5500.
I'd put a new one in, but it would begin to repeat when I scrolled down.

What I ended up doing was making sure I cropped 240 wide, but 340 long (instead of 320).  That fixed my scroll issue.

Hey, rollfaster!

Although I have a 5500, I would expect the proces to be similar.
Take your pic, make sure it is oriented to 90 deg clockwise and saved as "Startup_screen.bmp".
Copy and overwrite the /home/QtPalmtop/pics/Startup_screen.bmp.
That should be it.

If I'm off, someone please correct me.

As you can see in my signature, I use a D-Link Air card.
It worked no problem at all, without any configuring on my part.

5x00 Hardware / Z Case- What Are You Using?

Just went out and purchase a Case Logic Strongarm PTL-12.
Has slots for business and data cards, a zipper mesh pocket for earbuds, wifi card, USB sync cable, ring binder with note pad, holder for pen and a holder for sylus, and the PDA mound allows me to open the keyboard cover while my 5500 is held in place.
My only complaint is the Strongarm arms get in the way of closing the screen cover all the way.  Oh well....
Only $15 at CompUsa.

If you go under Settings->PCLink, you will see an IP Address assigned to the unit.
Try that.
You will also see a button that says "Sync Start".  You might try that button first to see if it just works "right out of the box".
The other sync button is the physical button on your cradle.

Thanks for the posting.  It's allowed me to begin double-checking the durability of my older Psion case.

Uh oh.  Just noticed that clicking on the cases leads to .....NOTHING!  The PDA cases may no longer be available, as per Chero.
Darn!  Should-a listened.

In a couple posts I saw yesterday, someone highly recommended the Grinder Gear Basecamp case.  He said it took a fall off a motorcycle in motion without a scratch.

Myself?  I use an old Psion leather case, of course.  

It holds my 5500, pen/sylus, business cards, wireless cf, earbuds, and USB sync/charger, with more room to spare.

I was just reading in another post about someone who highly recommended the Grinder Gear Basecamp case.  Well padded and very rugged, with plenty of storage for accessories.
He had mentioned that it fit his 760 just fine, however I don't know how that similar that size is to the 3100.

I had a number of Psion cases left over from my older Psion models.  I just throw the 5500 in there.  Zips up, and has a couple pockets for business cards, earbuds, usb sync cable, and cf wireless cards...all in a leather, padded case that's 7"x4"x1".

I actually grabbed wallpaper from kde-look.org called "Linux Powered" and cropped it down to size.
