Hello folks. I'm just joined this board after having used (and sold) an SL-5500 back in late '02/early '03 and been part of the www.zaurus.com board back then. I just purchased a refurb SL-5500 and am looking to gear it up.
I am now downloading the Sharp v3.10 ROM update so I can upgrade my stock v2.38 ROM that came with the unit. From what I am reading on this thread I should just be able to plug in my Linksys WCF12 card and it will work out of the box? Are there any configuration gotchas I should look out for?
I hope that the wifi support is better than I previously remembered. Back a couple of years ago I flashed to OpenZaurus since their hardware support was a lot broader. But when I tried to flash to it an hour ago both my green and orange lights flashed and it failed. I have tried various OZ initrd.bin and zImage files but still can't get the thing to take

You can get qtopia 2.1 roms for many zaurus, from

Click on the ELSI link > Browse Software > Roms

Unfortunately, the links from the page go to the zaurususergroup.org downloads page, which still doesn't work! Thanks for the assistance, though.

Do you have a better secure option please

X-Scale, which, iirc, isn't really an ARM chip, its something else, w/ and ARM compat layer.. so CE would be running on the native X-Scale stuff....
Intel bought an architectural license from ARM, meaning they could develop a processor which executes ARM binary code. It isn't a compat layer, as it can't execute non-ARM code.
I worked for ARM for seven years you know

QuoteSeems like a pretty good price. The shipping prices aren't too bad either. Mine arrived well packed and works so I thought I might as post something in this section. (I'm not affiliated with yesmicro.com)

Is this card light weight, low power usage and does not block the stylus slot?
And is it plug and play? (I'm a big fan of plug & play...I have better things to do than fooling with trying to configure a wifi card through ipk installs or arcane entries into config files.)

I heard someone had one of the BSDs running on a Zaurus. I can't be troubled to look it up right now, but googling would surely bring it up quickly...

After seeing this post I tried hooking my 30GB Series2 iPod up. Just like a thumb drive... I was able to mount sda2 and it worked beautifully. However, the iPod aparently looks for power on the USB port to determine whether to display the do not disconnect message after unmounting the drive I had to suspend the device for the check mark to appear on the iPod...
