Sharp ROMs / No Adhoc Mode Just Infrastructure Jp Rom
« on: January 30, 2008, 08:47:23 am »
Im currently using the Sharp JP rom.    I've noticed that it only has infrastructure mode available and not Ad-Hoc, within its native network config.

Any ideas how to add the option to the wireless config?

Sharp ROMs / Calibrating Fbvncserver
« on: January 11, 2008, 10:09:50 pm »
I just installed fbvncserver-c3000  0.94-03 from Meanies feed.

I cant get keyboard or mouse to work via vnc.

I know I have to calibrate vnc server as per this link  - SDG System VNC

Actually after installing I did the top left and bottom taps for every single screen refresh, straight after rebooting, after launching the vnc server app.  at every change and it still doesnt work?  i.e. - no remote keyboard or mouse control

I've tried with vncviewer from my OpenBSD workstation and Real VNC from my XP laptop.   stil no go.

I have also followed Meanies customisation website and make sure the Symlink was in there for k/b & mouse control

Any hints ppl may have?

Many thanks.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Pairing Bluetooth Keyboard Help
« on: January 04, 2008, 10:43:06 pm »
I'm hoping someone can give me a lending hand for attempting to get my bt keyboard working with pdaxrom

Im using a bt usb dongle, and a Think  Outside Stowaway bt keyboard

It works fine out of the box with Cacko and with my OpenBSD 4.2 desktop workstation with no configuration needed at all, both using the same bt usb dongle.

I did have Pdaxii13 and learnt that I required the module uhi_usb  (from memory) so I install Beta 3 of Pdaxrom which did have this included.

So I can discover the bt address of the bt keyboard, but not sure how to pair.

I've setup the pin's config files ie /etc/bluetooth/pin and givepin, then restarted bluetooth services and modprobe uhi_usb   from here I'm not sure what else to do besides going to OpenBSD for zaurus haoping it works out of the box or install Cacko and attempt to reverse engineer how it works there to carry out in Pdaxrom.

Any help greatly appreciated..........

General Discussion / Z Emulation Or Just Get A Gp2x
« on: August 21, 2007, 12:30:11 am »
Ok so the question cames down to development community and since the GP2X is more focussed on emulation then that would have more headway in that particular focus.  Not to mention form factor which is a typical gamepad (:

General Discussion / Z Emulation Or Just Get A Gp2x

The GP2X and Z are both ARM based, so ports are possible; witness zottd's great psx4all port...

Isn't the later Zaurus model Xscale based?

I guess with the GP2X the 2 x ARM processors is a help compared to a single 400mhz Xscale.

Yeah I already own a SL-3200.

I think UAE on Zaurus can be done without sound, but with sound it probably cab get choppy.

I've been thinking of getting a GP2X coz of the near 100% emulation speed for the amiga platform with full sound.

Do you believe the Z (SL-3200 to be exact) can live up to this task?  As Amiga is one of the hardest platforms to emulate and I guess the co-processor of the GP2X and the fact that its a ARM helps it achieve this task.

I guess buying a GP2X is like overlapping technology I've already purchased in the Z, unless you think about the physical form factor and the convenient AA batteries

Sharp ROMs / Cacko 1.23 & Bt Gps
« on: June 11, 2006, 10:04:13 am »
I've got a BT keyboard working fine with a usb BT dongle.  It just works straight from the box in Cacko (using a modified version for the SL-3200) (:

Now I've purchased a BT GPS reciever & I'm stumped with trying to get it working with my zaurus.

When I try sdptool browse,  I just get "Inquiry failed"

rfcomm scan doesn't work

hcitool scan comes back with "Device is not available"  probably due to /dev/hci0 not being present.   Seems like Cacko's BT setup is a little different, since I have no problems with the commands under pdaxrom.

Any ideas on what /dev I should be using for gpsd.

C1000/3x00 Hardware / Usb Charging Sl3200
« on: May 30, 2006, 10:32:13 pm »
I just purchased a PSP 2 n 1 USB charging & Sync retractable cable.

I plug it in and charges ok until about 58% full then the power light just blinks.

I guess its not pushing enough current thru & getting feedback from the battery when it reaches that level?

Sharp ROMs / Overclocked & Stuck In Reboot Loop
« on: May 23, 2006, 07:47:14 pm »
Opps I did it now to my Cracko 1.23 install.

I decided to try the overclocking feature by two notches above standard freq.

and it frooze.   I thought no big deal just do a reset & reboot.   Now its stuck in a reboot loop.  I see the cracko banner, its going through its normal dmesg output, then d'oh. it reboots by itself..  then the same over & over.

I assume the overclocking setting is still saved in a conf file somewhere.   Anyone know where to make the change?

C1000/3x00 Hardware / Sl3100 Dust Under Screen
« on: May 18, 2006, 05:12:51 am »
I pulled apart of zaurus *very carefully* and took out the LCD module.  Found it too much hassle to take off the glass screen, and besides I would of probably added more dust in their.    But its simple to do as long as you have a completely dust free environment, just need to push in the 4 or 6 metal catches that hold in the glass & blow with compressed air.   The dust free environment is a trickly one.   I have fluff balls as big as kittens in my house

lol!  it took me 2 hours to put on a ultraclear screen protector.  kept on taking it off to get rid of trapped dust as I was laying it down.   grrr!

One good way to get a dust free environment would be to run the shower for abit on hot, & the steam should be able to eliminate most of the dust in the environment before working.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / How To Get A Bluetooth K/b Working
« on: May 14, 2006, 12:52:51 pm »
I have a thinkoutside bluetooth keyboard, my first BT device.   It automatically worked with the latest sharp rom (sl3200), now Im on pdaxrom beta3 and have never setup bt on any *nix.

I can use hcitool to scan & pickup the bt address of the keyboard.   I've added the bt address to rfcomm.conf with bind on, & hardware comment.   Also created a givepin file with PIN:1234

Other than that, dont know what to do next.
