General Discussion / Netgear MA701 Dead ?
« on: October 12, 2004, 11:07:59 pm »
My MA701 died after a year, at the same time I upgraded to the latest OZ. I got it replaced under warranty. I suspect there is a manufacturing fault with them as the failure seems consistent with an intermittent board fault. I guess it could be firmware related, but the way mine failed was intermittent, both in the PDA and in a CF adaptor in my laptop.
If you have any chance of getting it replaced under warranty I'd go for it - NetGear have 3yrs or something on those I believe.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / OZ 3.3.5 and a Netgear MA701

Just wanted to say that your experiences exactly mirror what I saw tonight - dropping the connection (2 feet from AP), detecting as anonymous memory and nasty dmesg output. Also running OZ 3.3.6-pre1.
Pretty sure that as another member experienced, this is a hardware fault - I tried it in my laptop with a CF converter which had worked last week, is also no longer working, so I would expect reverting to OZ3.2 would not solve the problem - have you had the chance to prove this?

Lol... it's been 12 months 18 days since I bought it - luckily it appears netgear does a 3yr warranty, will be taking it back in this week... now where is that box and invoice....

Well, I just recently started here, but TT had moved to this location about a year ago or so. Nice area, except for the evil red eyed magpies.

Rofl! We used to feed them! In 96 or so I worked at the end of Hi-Tech Ct, a few years later the company moved next door and changed names. At the old building, we\'d have drinks each friday arvo, there was one magpie \'family\' (parents and a young\'n) that would join us to beg for bits of cheese etc.  Consequently those maggies never bothered us...  there are plenty of others in the park though, obviously the northern BTP maggies get vicious or they turned feral when the company stopped putting on Friday arvo drinks.
