Accessories / Symbol Wireless Card
« on: September 20, 2005, 12:52:01 pm »
I just got a Symbol Wireless card LA-4137-1020-WW off of ebay. How do I find out what chipset this card uses?
Is this card plug and play?
My zaurus sees the card in the network config panel.  Do I have to do any manual configuration?

I issue ifconfig -a and see that the OS sees this card as eth0. If I run Discoverer software, it list only devices as wifi0, wifi1, wlan0, wlan1. Not eth0.  What gives? I have had no luck with Kismet either.

I am trying to do some snooping but I do not think the software sees the card.

BTW: I am using a SL-5600 with original ROM.

Got your pm. The hawking card works great. The OS did recognize it after all but I did not know it. I wastrying to find the config file of where ethernet cards are located. It is not in the usual /etc/sysconfig/network-script/eth0 as in RH Linux.

Thanks for your help.

How did you get this card to work. Did it work without configuring? I just got one of these gards. I plugged it in rebooted - the card lights flashed and I thought it recognised it but after completely booting, the lights were not on.

Where do I configure the IP adress for this device? How do I turn networking on? It is not in /etc/rc.d/init.d/

Any suggections?

I have a SL-5600 and want to play some avi video. The standard video player does not support this. What Zaurus software supports this format?

Thanks.

Code: [Select]
PasswordAuthentication no

This message is clearly telling you that you can't write in this read-only file system of your ROM.

If you tell us what model Zaurus and what ROM your using perhaps someone here can help you?

I just got an SL-5600. It has ROM v 1.32

I am having a hell of a time trying to get this thing setup. I am used to using various versions of RH. Some things are the same, some are different.

What are you using to copy? Try the following from the command line:

cp /mnt/cf/pico pico

If your Zaurus is online, the simplest is probably just to try:

wget http://www.users.on.net/~hluc/myZaurus/custom/pico
