Accessories / Wifi Card Problem (ma701)
« on: June 22, 2006, 05:02:08 am »
Hi Folks!

I have "fixed" the problem. Since I have got card very cheap I decided that it makes no sense to send it somethere for repair or something and used that oportunity to look waht is inside. Curiosity is a great thing. So I have cracked it open and it started to work! Bad contact somewhere I guess. It works well up to now.

Accessories / Wifi Card Problem (ma701)
« on: June 08, 2006, 05:31:06 pm »
Hello All!

I have got recently used Netgear MA701 card. It does not work.
When I insert it in CF slot it imedeatly light the led and zaurus (5000D) says that "anoyimous card" is found.

I have checked the card with cardctl info/ident and it shows "no product information available".

My question is: should I thow the card right to the trash basket or there are some hope to reanimate it?

Thank you in advance.

PS. I use OpenZaurus 3.5.4

Zaurus - pdaXrom / 5000d Root On Sd

Hi All,

What is a best way to move / to SD card? Having old 5000D it is very essential for me.
Rboot from OZ does not work. I have found so far only article about dualboot for c760 but I would like  ready to use recipe for 5000D if possible.

BTW, what is the point to put X and related stuff into 5000D distribution if it is absolutely unusable?

Thanks!

> I've seen this when the 2.6.x kernels were being developed. In my case it was that the CF card was not being shutdown.

It is 2.4 as was pointed above.

> Do you have a CF card in the machine? Might be worth taking it out and seeing what happens.

Yes. It is a good poit and I am going to experimet with it.

> What kernel version is this? There was another glitch during the dev of 2.6.x to do with battery level reporting (depending on whether external power was plugged in when you rebooted of all things  ). This meant that the kernel thought the battery was flat, when it actually wasn't.

Problem is not in kernel. Battery is empty and that is why zaurus does not turn up.

Hi All!

I have been trying the latest 3.5.4RC (thx to Hrw) and noticed strange thing. I suspend my SL-5000 in the evening and next morning battery is empty. Does anyone noticed something like that on 5000 or 5500 model?

russman: join oz 3.5.4 test http://openzaurus.org/wordpress/2006/01/09...-release-plans/ as 3.5.4rc are obsolete now - that problem which you have with apmd is solved.

applets are removed by hold on panel and selecting from menu

Hi All!

Here is my bit. I have tried gpe (gpe-image-collie-20051024174503.rootfs.jffs2) with zImage-collie-32-0-20051030185511.bin on SL-5000.

There is suspend bug. When I try to do  "apm --suspend" it says:

Hardware        : Sharp-Collie
killall: apmd: no process killed
Cannot open APM device: No such file or directory

"/etc/init.d/apmd start/stop" works or at least does not complain

Other strange thing is that at very start gpe asks to create new user without option to use root user . When gpe-dm configured to login with no password it has no option to choose which user to login. By default it is root. When loged in as root I start calendar, todo etc. gpe complains "unable to open database: /root/.gpe/...."
Another thing is that I have not found a way to remove applet from the panel. Panel settings give oportunity to change order of applets but not to remove them.

Network via usb works fine except for ipv6 module. Cards are recognized and mounted (CF 256Mb fat, SD 1Gb ext3)

Happy fixing! :-)

I must say that gpe looks very nice. I really want to see release.

Opie test is coming...

I am not sure, but last time I have been reinstalling opera  the symlink /usr/share/opera gave me a hard time. Check there it points to.

Good luck!

I am using a Zaurus 5500, I am using the Packing Manager to do the install and i tell it to install on the SD card.

Perhaps you need to link not to /media/card/... but to /media/card/packages/...
I have got this problem on my Z and needed to relink all stuff manually.

Sorry for beating up the dead horse, but when I've tried to run opera 7.55 under resent OE build (sharp-compat-libs installed), I got the following error message:

Code: [Select]
# ./opera
./opera: symbol lookup error: ./opera: undefined symbol: _7QString.shared_null

Any idea what it could be?

Ahh, nevermind, I figured it out. On a side note, why qeserver is eating 35% of cpu time when no qt2 apps are running?
