What's the condition of the unit,  scratched screen or exterior?

Will you ship it to Spain?

thanks

no scratches; it's in excellent condition.

i've never shipped to spain before, but have no real objection if you can tolerate my learning curve.

Wow, did you even realize you lived this close to a pdaXrom dev? If i didnt just buy another laptop I would have bought this in a heartbeat... and I would have even drove up there to get it...

jeez... who knew??
i've really enjoyed using the 'z';  part of which has been the extremely supportive online community!
i haven't met anyone in person... but, its been great fun (and, even productive... which is the real point!)

cheers,
guy

sad to say, i've just listed my 'baby' on ebay;

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=230119005984

currently, perfectly functioning pdaxii3 install.
original packing, cd's, charger, usb cable.

will also include 1Gb PNY SD card and NetGear MA701 wireless CF card.

just ordered a linux tablet pc for work... as my eyes have gotten so bad, i can't easily play with the 'z' during meetings...
: )

thanks,

Zaurus - pdaXrom / More On >2gb Sd Cards

on a lark, i inserted my 4Gb connect3D sd card (from tigerdirect) and it was instantly recognized.    i used it for a few hours;  then, the z went to sleep.  upon awakening, the card was no longer recognized.   i rebooted with and without the card inserted several times; and the card has never been recognized by the system again.

I believe I had some inconsistent results a couple times with pdaxrom, but it's been pretty stable with beta 3 and pdaxii13.

There is a compatibility list on Antikx's [a href=\"http://www.tyrannozaurus.com/?q=wiki/SDCompatList]Tyrannozaurus[/url] site.

thanks,
i just reformatted the connect3D 4gb card for my digital camera (where it works...) and swapped my 2gb sandisk card to my 3100 (which also works...)

now; if i can just get korganizer to run...
so it goes.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / More On >2gb Sd Cards
« on: March 26, 2007, 09:07:53 am »
i had been having issues with reading my large format sd card with cacko rom. after failing to solve the problem, i not-so-happily reverted to a 1Gb card (san disk).

as my needs for my 3100 changed (i wanted to move in the micropc direction -- but using a flavor of linux), i switched to pdaxrom (specifically, meanie's pdaxii3 -- latest build).

the switch went smoothly. and, on a lark, i inserted my 4Gb connect3D sd card (from tigerdirect) and it was instantly recognized.    i used it for a few hours;  then, the z went to sleep.  upon awakening, the card was no longer recognized.   i rebooted with and without the card inserted several times; and the card has never been recognized by the system again.

very odd behavior.  so.. while the obvious fix is to find another brand of 4gb card... i wonder if there is anywhere to look for a log and/or process where i can identify exactly where/how the sd card recognition software is failing

any thoughts gratefully accepted.
cheers.

X/Qt / Odd Sd-mmc Behavior
« on: February 25, 2007, 10:26:52 am »
even more...

this is really maddening.
decided to reload fsck'd all drives.  minor mods to sd_mem_ctrl (above) and fstab

*/dev/mmcda1 /mnt/card auto noauto,owner 0 0 *

this line previously had other options *noauto,owner,noatime,iocharset=utf8*

now.. all sd/mmc cards from 16mb to 1gb work fine.  the 4gb is recognized and mounted intermittently -- and, when mounted (approx every 4-5 insertions) works properly until the zaurus is placed in suspend mode.

the 4gb cannot be mounted manually, nor can it be fsck'd, formatted, etc... no device appears to be recognized.
this card continues to work properly in 2 different digital cameras (every insertion).

i really think this is a coding/software issue.  if anyone has any suggestions as to how i would go about 'tracking' the culprit (whether module or device or whatever), please give me your thoughts.
i really don't need a 4gb card on my digital camera... but don't want to be constrained to 1gb on my z.

X/Qt / Odd Sd-mmc Behavior

i think i may have identified a part of the problem.  i have several copies of /etc/sdcard/sd_mem_ctrl of several different sizes and dates.  the older file was 4110bytes while the newer file was 4240bytes.

the dates correspond to the days that i uninstalled/reinstalled the updated sd_mmc*.ipk.  when i renamed the oldest sd_mem_ctrl.bak file to sd_mem_ctrl and inserted my 4Gb SD card -- the zaurus recognized/mounted the card.  it worked all evening, til i put the z to sleep -- at which point, the card was no longer recognized (despite repeated re-insertion/reboot/etc/etc).

so.. when i checked the /etc/sdcard/sd_mem_ctrl file, it was now the 4240byte, newer version.  when i deleted the 'newer' file, then copied the older .bak file to sd_mem_ctrl -- i reinserted the sd card --- and, voila!  joy.

so... something appears to be rewriting/overwriting/changing... the sd_mem_ctrl file before/during/after 'sleep'.  which prevents the card from being subsequently recognized/remounted.

i am not smart enough to figure out what else is going on; but, i continue to read/learn....

X/Qt / How To Uninstall Pdaxqtrom?
« on: February 12, 2007, 07:26:27 pm »

When I used pdaxqtrom, I copied the squashfs image to a directory named /hdd3/xqt/
and then used the installer and ran it from there.
I also installed meanie's automounter. This automounted pdaxqtrom when I rebooted Cacko.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=153895\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
thanks, that worked quite nicely... as long as i remembered to edit the /etc/fstab file; everything worked like a charm.

having openoffice is ok, but i'm not sure how useful it will be. it took nearly 10 minutes for the first start and can't keep up with my typing (which is not very fast to begin with!).

onward and forward.

how about go into the QInstaller/Package Manager under the Settings Tab and uninstall pdaXqtrom like you would any other app...
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=153861\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

thanks, but that's how i uninstalled pdaqtrom-base, -apps and zggc pkgs.

i will try the xqtcleanup next (btw -- thanks for attachment!)
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=153874\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

resolution:
as it turns out, the entries in fstab were still 'pointing' to the cf card.  once i edited those entries, everything worked just fine.

though, final question (for this thread) ... where do most people install the images? on the internal drive (hdd3, perhaps?) or an external SD??

X/Qt / Odd Sd-mmc Behavior
« on: February 12, 2007, 08:43:32 am »
hmmm... 2 posts within 12 hrs. not my usual... : )

after having installed the 0.8.2 pdaxQtrom (base, apps, zgcc, java, open office) i've been experiencing some odd behavior of my 4Gb SD card.  notably, it is inconsistently mounted, and after going to 'sleep' or closing the clamshell on my 3100, it is no longer recognized by the system -- almost as if it were 'unmounted'.

if i uninstall the sdmmc-module-2.4.20; this behavior does not occur with a 16, 32 or 512Mb SD card. when i reinstall the module -- the behavior occurs with all 3 cards (and the 4gb card...)

any thoughts on  how i might troubleshoot this?

(btw -- if i haven't said this before; thanks so much for all the folks who put in the hard work and time on making the zaurus such a GREAT tool.  my only wish would be for internal wireless... but, having said that, imho, its a nearly perfect device and the community is a pleasure!)

like a fool... i installed pdaXqtrom on my CF card... then quickly realized that i could not run the programs with my wireless cf card... very silly, i know.

i deleted the program and rm'ed the gtk-2.0 subdirectory and the libpng files. also removed all pda* files.

i would like to reinstall pdaXqtrom, but when i rerun the installer script, i receive a msg saying that X/QT is installed and configured" ... but, it's not...

so.
how do i reinstall properly and 2) are there any recommendations to install in a particular directory/hdd on the internal drives or... use a 1Gb SD card..???

thanks in advance for any help

Sharp ROMs / Cacko Lite Issues

[snip]

3) neither the sharp music, nor video player recognizes an external USB drive -- which IS recognized by tKc explorer/editor... guess i "could" test another media player.  will try out the photo storage software this evening.

like many questions... this one is a real 'doh'...
after a bit of probing, it turns out that you have to manually 'update library' after adding the new usb resource...
after that, everything works fine.

on to the usb issues!

Cacko 1.23 full here on C3100. Internet-connect wizard not installed on my machine either.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=117711\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

are you able to use a usb ethernet dongle with cacko full?

if so, i will try to load the 'full' version this evening to see if all the other problems disappear...

btw. re: meanie's comments...
its been several months since i've had the original sharp rom running... but, i seem to recall several aspects of their internet wizard working in english...  is my swiss-cheese memory acting up; or was their some kind of translation(?) involved. (just curious..)

thanks again

Sharp ROMs / Cacko Lite Issues
« on: March 08, 2006, 11:07:15 am »
after a few months of fooling around with the sharp rom on my 3100 (which seemed slow and bloated to me...) and, then, pdaxrom (which is great, but just too slow to use on a regular basis). i migrated to the cacko-lite 1.23 rom.  it has been, in my experience, much faster than any of my other attempts.  so much so, that i've been trying to use my 3100 in the original way i envisioned (as a portable companion to my laptops (1 powerbook + 1 thinkpad (dualbooting win.xp and mandriva.linux).  however, a few problems have come up;

1)   the internet connect wizard doesn't work at all (error msg indicates it is not installed) and the network utility will not allow me to resort my list of network connections.

2)  my usb ethernet dongle does not work in cacko (with ALL usb software installed), while it DID work in the original sharp rom.

3) neither the sharp music, nor video player recognizes an external USB drive -- which IS recognized by tKc explorer/editor... guess i "could" test another media player.  will try out the photo storage software this evening.

4) back to internet... i've been unable to connect to some wireless networks that require a password (e.g., my daughter's indoor soccer field) -- which is just a belkin router with password protection...  noone seemed to know the 'flavor' of security, but, its just a 5-letter password.  none of the encryption combinations in the cacko network settings allowed me access... i'll bring my laptop next monday to discover additional information.

5) any luck on running/compiling a decent mail program; e.g., sylpheed, for the zaurus?  i like KO/Pi for my calendars -- easily updated by downloading my icals on ical.mac.com as 'resource' files ... but OM/Pi is not so handy (also slow...).

thanks for any thoughts,
i may just load cacko-full over the weekend and see if that resolves some of the issues....

cheers
