- Stylin'!  Donkie's Shins...
[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Just as an update for anyone using the feed, I've shortened it a bit (the old one still works, but I think this is easier to remember):

The feed is at [a href=\"http://nine.dyndns.org/zfeed]http://nine.dyndns.org/zfeed[/url]

The blog is at http://nine.dyndns.org

That should help the hunt-n-peckers and make it easier to remember how to find the sites...

Cheers All!

- I did hit it with a browser.  There is a link labelled "Packages" that says it links to "Packages.txt", but when I click that link I get a 404 error.  Same with the link below it, which is "Packages.filelist".  Perhaps I'm missing something?
- Anton made a new feed for the new release.  I presume these are mirrors of that new feed, as opposed to the old Cacko version?  Just verifiying, I am.  Thanks for your time...
[div align=\"right\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

OK - I repaired the Packages link so you can have a look at what is currently in the feed. Please understand that the Packages link is up to date with the latest ipks in the feed, but the webpage is out of date - meaning, there are FAR more packages there for installation. To make sure you see all of the available software, use the Add/Remove Applet on your Zaurus and add [a href=\"http://nine.dyndns.org/www/stac/zfeed]http://nine.dyndns.org/www/stac/zfeed[/url] to your feeds and do an UPDATE. I have made, and will be making additions to the packages on a very regular basis - there are more than 400 packages currently in the feed for your consumption.

Regards,
Stac

Not at all, Rag... did you try hitting the feed with a web browser to see it? If a web browser works, there may be another problem... I just reloaded the feed on my Z and it looks top shape... drop me a line... happy to help.

Stac,

Is that supposedly a new business strategy based on FOSS?
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=102783\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Not nearly new - I ran a site a long time ago called The Newted Community (http://newted.dyndns.org) where I maintained an FTP site of Newton Messagepad software - there were quite a few people interested in having the resources readily available... I had a lot of software that I was able to pull together in one spot rather than having dozens of places to look for anything.

I have had more than a dozen different feeds at any given time on my Z - and trying to keep track of what was where was too much for me to handle... so I'm putting in the effort, and my using my resources, and making them available to everyone... if they choose to help out, so be it... if not, the resource is there for them to use.

Also, I thing eBay is a good place to advertise the site since it costs only a few pennies to do so and reach a lot of new Zaurus people at the same time.

In any event, I hope folks enjoy it...

Hello Folks -

In an effort to start giving back some of my Z joy, I set up a mirror of the cacko 1.23 feed and have added a lot of packages that I thought would be staples for others - visit:

http://nine.dyndns.org/www/stac/zfeed/

Let me know if you have any problems getting there or with the packages residing there so I can clean up any messes...

Regards,
Stac

P.S. if you find the site useful, as I hope you will, please feel free to donate (just visit the feed with a web browser and click the link   )

Doing 'bitbake maemo-image' in OE should give you a image with the opensource bits of maemo 1.0. Maemo 1.1 needs to be integrated when it gets released.

Thanks Koen -

It looks like the movement is rather robust... with tweaking of the window manager being the key ingredient. Also, hardware support would be an issue, I assume... in any event, I hope to see someone picking up the gauntlet on this... the OS looks very interesting and clean - it'd look great on my C1K!

After looking through the pages, apparently Nokia has something cooking with the Nokia 770 tablet... has anyone who has development experience had a look at the SDK yet to see if something like this would run on a Z? The Wiki shows quite a nice spread of apps that are becoming available including some that are near and dear to our hearts here in Z land.

Is someone willing to have a look at it and comment?

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Confused About Ipk Compatibility
« on: October 31, 2005, 03:52:59 pm »
Hi folks -

Perhaps someone could shed some light on a few questions I have about the ipk's... having just flashed to cacko 1.23 on my C1K, I was wondering what ipk's I can use other than those found in the standard cacko feed? Are there alternate feeds? How does one differentiate between ipk's that work on pdaXrom and cacko?

TIA,
Stac

Hi all -

Caught up in the exuberance of my C1K running Cacko, I tried to send a little something to show my appreciation and it seems like the Donation link is broken...

Perhaps someone could have a look at this on the eve of releasing 1.23?

TIA,
Stac

Zaurus - pdaXrom / No Bluetooth To Internet Via Cellphone

Hi there - I've been struggling with this all day today. I have a C-1000 with a socket BT card, and a Treo 650 on Cingular, like you...

I get the following error when I connect:

LCP terminated by peer sent

Can you Zip up the config files you are using for the PPP connection so I can give yours a try?

TIA!
Stac

make sure your phone is discoverable, and hit "search" to find the BT DUN

That should be it, and anything else obviouse that I may have forgotten to point out.

If it won't dial, then try this.

The settings you made are in /etc/ppp/peers/DIALUPNAME (whatever you set it to in the PPP Modem applet

Copy that file to /etc/ppp/options

edit /etc/ppp/options and add these config lines:
usepeerdns

I think that is it.

Then run from the command line:
pppd -d

and it should connect for you.

I may have left something out here. I played for a long time with it, and you know how we forget what we did . . .

Let me know how it goes. If it works for you, I'll post it somewhere so others can use it (and so I can refer back to it later).
