Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Hostap Problems
« on: January 10, 2007, 12:25:24 am »
Here's the deal: I want to get that SMC 2642W card of mine working under OZ. It used to work fine under the Sharp ROM, but now that I switched to OZ/GPE in order to get it to work with WPA, I can't get nothing to work. Obviously, I tried working it out with wpa-supplicant, but even before that, I wouldn't get much working (meaning nothing except a non-blinking green led—which is close to nothing).

I heard you had to make it work with hostap, so I bound the card with hostap in /etc/pcmcia/config, and added this because there was no hostap driver initially:

Code: [Select]
device "hostap"
  class "network" module "hostap"
I found that on another linux site. I have some doubts as to whether it can be efficient, but I have yet to find a good explanation as to how I should configure hostap. I have noticed some people talking of a hostap.conf file, but there's nothing like this here.

Here's what I get when I try to launch wpa_supplicant:

Code: [Select]
root@collie:/etc/pcmcia# wpa_supplicant -Dhostap -iwlan0 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
ioctl[SIOCSIWPMKSA]: No such device
ioctl[SIOCSIWMODE]: No such device

The wpa_supplicant.conf is already configured to connect a WEP network—which is why, I guess the output says it's trying to disable WPA at a point.

Thanks a lot for the help!

Mac Issues / Connect Zaurus To Network/www Over Usb?
« on: December 12, 2006, 03:21:01 pm »
I had the same complaint... until I realized that it was because I had not enabled internet sharing on the mac! I worked alright, right until the zaurus went to sleep... and since then, I've never had it work again.

Sharp ROMs / Kde-pim Problem
« on: August 27, 2006, 08:56:30 pm »
Ko/pi and Ka/pi won't launch, and according to the output I get when I try with the terminal, it is because it cannot find "libmicrokdepim.so.2" ("no such file or directory"). I installed the kmicrokdelibs on the internal space, and I tried kapi on both SD and internal space, without results. Any Idea?

I'm using Sharp rom 3.10 on a 5500.

No wonder that people want nicer graphics (they always do), but it should never be at the expense of speed.

Sharp ROMs / /etc/fstab Gone (hybrid Rom On Sl-5500)

Okay... so what's wrong, then? What's missing? Why is there "no device"?

Sharp ROMs / /etc/fstab Gone (hybrid Rom On Sl-5500)
« on: November 01, 2005, 02:58:02 am »
I tried to flash my 5500 to a Hybrid rom, but it can't mount the jffs2 file: it tried to mount "/dev/mtdblock5", but failed be cause "No device were found" (or some similar message); so I'm stuck on a shell. I investigated the matter and found no similar problems encountered. But trying to mount the CF card, I realized it could not do it (again, no device found--SD card won't work either). I also found out the "mount" command didn't work; I had to use mkfs.msdos. I can say "mount" and it will give results (the stuff that's mounted, I guess), but "mount /dev/something" won't work. Why? No /etc/fstab, it says. Reading further technical forums and documents, I found out that this file seems to be somewhat essential to the mounting of a cf card. If the cf card can't be mounted, then if the jffs2 file was the init.rd on the cf (I guess that should be the case), it would make sense that the jffs2 file could not work!
So, I am right? Should I write a new fstab file? If so, how do I do that?
Thanks for getting me out of this fine mess!
