Ever since I first removed the top to install sim & memory, I have had a hard time keeping it from falling off. Now it seems to always fall off if not in the case.

Yes, I initially used the special tool and followed all directions for removal and replacement of the lid.
Is there any suggestions, or does anyone know if this can be sent back to Planet for repair?

I am at my wits end with this and it’s been nearly useless since I received it. Any help would be appreciated!!

Some sort of pointing device -- I'm thinking TrackPoint-ish -- would be awfully welcome. But it would need to be precise, as in ThinkPads, rather than awful, as in the Sony Vaio P.

Ditto! (again)

one key feature: to be able to replace the board inside the first generation Gemini with an upgraded board one day!
even if Planet didn't do this, I would hope some entrepreneur would step up and make a replacement logic board that could be easily slotted into the carcass to give us an upgrade.

Ditto!!

Thanks. AptX was a technology bought by Qualcom, and seems to be built-in to their Snapdragon 6xx and 8xx devices, just needs the firmware loading. People hacked the firmware from an LG V20 update so it could be used with other SD devices where they hadn't licensed it.
The link you provided suggest that there are specific devices based on Mediatek chips which have had AptX enabled. I'll have to do some research about that.

AptX is sweet! Tried to license it for a project sometime before the sellout announcement was made. Started the paperwork and conversations, then radio silence... Eventually, news of the Qualcomm purchase surfaced, and I understood why my project was doomed to be pinnin' for the Fjords.

While waiting for the licensing to come through, we skunkworked a few LG V20s for said algos similar to what @speculatrix mentioned above - our poc worked, but we couldn't release squat without the [)@m# license. Killed the whole project...    Ain't capitalism a bitch when it's on the other side!?

I want to be able to run WiFi analyzers, and packet injection tools to, to look for faults.
I want to be able to run WireShark too. And mitm tools like burp suite.

It should be simple enough to do these by adding packages to debian.

@speculatrix is correct! That was pretty much how the OffSec boys did it... The real questions should be: what's the throughput? What WiFi chip are they using (can it support promiscuous mode, etc.)? And what will the internal bus speed be like? Some of those Kali apps can suck real mud if not optimized.

However, what a great inconspicuous portable console for the PineAPL!
