Get the scatterfile from https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showto...st&p=292916

Thanks for your help.

Having downloaded the scatter file and placed it with the downloaded images files, I went ahead and tried the download function on the SPF tool. Download only worked, but still left the Cosmo locked. “Format All + Download” and “Upgrade” both gave me a Partition[preloader] No image file Exist!” message even though there is a preloader.img file in the directory.

Umm..https://spflashtool.com/ - if you use Windows version, you need the Android drivers from Google.

Apologies for the delayed reply. OESF can use only IPV4 connections and most of the time MY ISP assigns me an IPV6 one.

I get invalid scatter file format when I try to use this. Does anyone here know how to contact Planet Tech Support? I am willing to pay shipping both ways to send it back and get them to reset it but cannot find any way to get in touch with then. I have tried the indigo site and the planet web site but have not had any luck.

Maybe flashing the full image at https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showto...st&p=294205 with sp_flashtool would work?

Where do I find the flashtool. The one I could see on the Planet site seemed to work only with the Gemini. None of the downloads in the post you mentioned that had the images and other files had the necessary txt file to work with the Cosmo. Could you point me to the URL?

Maybe https://www.digiconceptng.com/dir/blog/ways...ock-anti-theft/ would help you. I have no idea if the GSM Aladdin method works here. It claims to support Mediatek chips.

Thanks. Alas, no success. The program would not connect with the cosmo.

If you are able to get to the recovery screen, shouldn't the option for "Wipe Data/Factory reset" be enough?
One would have thought so, but, alas, not. I tried that and then rebooted. It still wants the *** PIN. (Possibly an anti theft measure.) I see a return to Hong Kong in my Como’s future.

Hook it up via usb.

Unlock bootloader (Wipes data).

Relock bootloader again (or not, if you prefer).

Not sure what you mean. I tried going to http://support.planetcom.co.uk/index.php/C...al_Installation to get the setup screen and tried “Reboot to bootloader”.  All I got was a blank screen with “=> FASTBOOT mode. . .” at the bottom. I was eventually able to turn the machine off, but still couldn’t get anywhere. Even a reset to factory settings didn’t help.

The first thing I did on getting my Cosmo was to set a privacy PIN. The next thing I did was realize the PIN was not what I thought it was and so no cannot get the cosmo to work. I have no data on it so doing something that deletes everything would not be a problem. Any suggestions?

Thanks. I use Outlook for my contacts and sent the e-mail from there and used K-9 to read the e-mails. Wish I had heard about vsf files, although Outlook 2013 doesn’t seem to support them. Bit of a pain that the obvious ways to transfer contacts across don’t work properly.

I could not get Contacts to download contacts from my G-Mail account, so I had to import my contacts by sending myself an email with a .vcf one for each contact. I opened the e-mails and saved the cards. I can go into the contacts and select a contact. The details all appear, but when I go into the contact to edit them, none of the details appear. Further if I do edit any of the details, the edits don’t appear on the contact “card”, the original data are shown. However if I go back into edit, the edits are there.

Does anyone know if it's safe to install on a rooted Gemini?
Well it has not worked on my rooted Gemini. One hour after starting the install I am still on the screen with the droid having his abdomen opened.

Gemini PDA - Android / Phone App Won’t Start
« on: June 08, 2018, 03:49:08 pm »
The annoying thing is that the ’phone rings when someone calls me. It is just that I can’t answer it or make calls.

Gemini PDA - Android / Phone App Won’t Start
« on: June 07, 2018, 05:17:54 pm »
When I try to open the ’phone app I get the message “Phone has stopped” with a button “Open app again”. When I tap on that button I get the message “Phone keeps stopping” with a button “Close app”.

I have restarted and powered off and powered up again to no avail. This is recent behaviour. The ’phone can see the network and downloads data.

Any clues?

Gemini PDA - Hardware / Flash Tool not Flashing from W10 machine
« on: May 09, 2018, 01:11:15 pm »
Now got it to work. https://geminiplanet.com/2018/04/07/how-to-...-on-the-gemini/ gives the process. The trick is to ignore what feels right.

Do not turn the Gemini on or connect before using the download tool.

Press the download/readback button while the gemini is closed and not connected.
connect the gemini.
open the gemini
press and hold down Fn+escape
select restart

The second time you do it you just
Press the download/readback button while the gemini is closed and not connected.
connect the gemini.

That's really strange. You may want to email hello@planetcom.co.uk and see if they can help. It almost sounds like something wrong with the Fn key.
Apologies. What I meant was that I got the Gemini to restart OK but that restarting did not have any effect on whether I was able to use the Flash Tool.

In android anyway hold Fn+Esc until the dialog pops up, then press Restart in that dialog.
Thanks. I have now tried that, but with no success.

It is really irritating. I can transfer files OK (albeit to only a few of the folders), but cannot get the Flash Tool to work. Is there any way to check whether the Windows drivers have actually been installed?
